Vet was up last night to do flu/tet for Asti and Byter. She had impeccable taste I must say as she said Asti was very well put together and a very nice mare. Such flattery went straight to our heads!

Anyway got her to have a quick check re: putting her in foal, as her mother had to have a caslick when we had her covered, so I wanted to see if Asti had inherited the need but no, has good conformation there, a good seal, and looks like she'd carry OK all being well. Plenty of room etc and she's in good nick.

Had a wee chat about her not being obvious about being in season, but she said could definately do the regumate thing if necessary, or if we miss her in season and leave it 5 or so days, there is an injection they can give to bring her into season within 12-48 hours.

Might not be a problem if she's running with a stallion, depends on whether they offer that (preferred option) or if she'll have to have a supervised covering.

I think I may be making some phone calls today to go see stallions!

*does happy dance* am getting all excited and broody now!!!

Awesome!! How exciting!!

are you only interested in spotties?

No, the colour is the least important part! My list is

1) nice natured!
2) no more than 16hh
3) all rounder but dressage type
4) local preferred!

Have found a polish warmblood, who is a coloured but it wasn't the colour that attracted me, but he's 15.2 now (only 3) but moves well.

Also an Arab over in York who is just gorgeous, and the foal pic I've seen from him, has really nice movement.

Asti does a bit of everything, has shown, evented, hunted, PC, XC, SJ, endurance, just started teaching dressage for dummies to me, and is almost broken to harness - so I want another one like that!

Ah well she''s only 15hh and I'm 5'6 and can't clamber on anything bigger without a mounting block!!!

There are some really nice smaller stallions. She's a WHP/SHP type - nice and round but fine, and fairly short legs, but she does move well. And jumps like a stag...
