Just wondering as had a fab hack today
grin.gif

We had frost this morning and it was nice and crisp and Darcy was fresh , alert and willing to go
grin.gif
The sun was up aswell which helped and I got to put him in his fleece sheet, which I think I appreciate more than he does..

Obviously it's bound to get worse re: mud and I have my winter grooming essentials at the ready ... stupid grey

Are you joking

Horse hasn't been turned out since end of October
frown.gif
, school has been flooded for about 3 weeks
frown.gif
and today it was frozen

.

I did manage a hack out yesterday
smile.gif
but she was not unsurprisingly full of beans

How many more months have wegot to go???

Well I would enjoy if the flippin' weather would make it's mind up. It has done nothing but chuck it down with rain for the last couple of weeks. Today it was freezing cold and below freezing. Couldn't ride as nothing had thawed out. Now it's chucking it down with rain again. Gawd make your mind up pleease!!

Oh god, well in your case then yes I am joking

Fortunatley we have 2 schools, one of which is a joke to be called a school, the other is fab and never freezes or floods besides the odd corner.

We're also allowed the horses to be out from 7.30-3 .

And is it 2 or 3?

Are you joking!? Winter is the worst month for horses
frown.gif

Have no arena to ride in so can only hack, which is impossible after sixth form most nights. It's freezing cold, surface water and mud covering the fields, and stables to muck out.
Boooo

I do however enjoy cuddles with Bubs when the air is really crisp as she's all warm and snugly, and see the vapour in the air when she breathes
grin.gif

Lol yes! After I'd had a quick canter up this hill he was snorting away all content and making big clouds of vapour
grin.gif

Refreshing! I hate the stickyness of summer

Yep!!
grin.gif

The silence when its snowed, the crackle of ice, the crisp sounds everything makes, the crunching of frost when you walk on it, the flickering of a fire ...

I'll stop

Im loving the winter!

Didnt do alot of riding in summer had a nasty fall and put me off a bit. Last few weeks have really been getting back into my riding. All three off them got out for hack each day was quite refreshing today!

My thighs are aching like mad though!

I also love winter. Such crisp beauty. I often depair when people moan on about the weather here. It a bit parky at times but it's not like we'll freeze to death.

I am still waiting for it to flaming well arrive. It has been like spring here, warm, damp and not only can I STILL see grass, the stuff is STILL growing
smile.gif
Unfortunately since the County chopped down my hedges I can't graze the horses on most of it.

Temperatures are nothing, about -5C in the mornings but it warms up.

I WANT SNOW!

Todays pathetic offering didn't last long. I have been outside digging flower borders, in November you usually can't get a spade in the ground! Wondering if we are going to pay for this warm weather later

On the other hand, the horses are eating grass and not so much hay.

Its ok, thanks for pointing out.

Cant say I have enjoyed it so far, piddling with rain and blowing a gale, but today we even had a frost (dont happen here very often) and since it was dry took afternoon off work and took my boy out for a lovely hack it was bliss, but then it started to rain again this evening.

Hate it so far! hardly any riding, too much mud, flooded fields, lots of mucking out, expensive food hayledge and straw bills...need i go on! If i had not have been at work then i wouldnt have minded today as much as it was sunny and crisp, but it was dark when i finished, and we have no lights yet! roll on spring
smile.gif

I do not normally mind too much although miss not riding everyday like I can in the summer...but this year has been hard in winter so far...mainly due to my lad recouperating after laminitis and being on restricted and strip grazed turnout...so I move the fence each day and it is mud by the time I get home as he has eaten the grass and then trampled everything..so all around is muddy when normally I have no mud at all! It is also pulling his heartbar shoes off which is not great either as they need to be on!!

I love winter!

I love that feeling you get when you come back from a cold winters ride. It makes you feel alive and refreshed.

I love making Tawny all snug and cosy in her rug and feeding her.
I even enjoy riding in the rain so long as i'm togged up in my waterproofs!

Sadly not me, still having major problems getting hold of my saddle so my boy has been out of work.

I love nothing more than hacking out in winter when the air is crisp and it is frosty. I much prefer riding in winter than summer. Nothing beats hacking out in the morning (especially christmas morning!) all wrapped up, going out in the cold for a hour so, coming back and giving my lad his breakfast and tucking him up in his rug then going and then going and making myself all cosy with a cuppa!
