why are dengie adding an appetite stimulant to a lami lo-cal feed?

I can sort of see their point, having a good do-er that needs a powder in the feed but who sometimes turns their nose up at chaff (because its boring and they're not that hungry). I'd rather have fenugreek in the chaff (if it worked!) than have to add some mix to it to get horse to eat it.

Without molasses the chaff needs something to make it palatable. The horse can only eat as much as you put in the bucket, and it's a low energy feed, so without added sugar I can't see a problem with fenugreek.

Presumably the sweetness of Fenugreek is there as an appetiser - my greedy horse refuses to touch oat straw as it's so bland. I don't know whether it applies to horses, but there has been some research that shows that Fenugreek can improve glucose tolerance in diabetic people so it may be in there for other purposes. It does contain a number of vitamins - A, C, E I think.

My horse is lami prone but not what I would call a good doer so am happy they are doing a feed like the mollasses free alfa a and the mollassess free hi fi and alfa a lite. I chose the mollassess free alfa a due to the higher oil content, until the grass starts coming through then obv re look at his feed

There are some studies that have shown fenugreek lowers blood glucose levels and has anti oxidant properties so probably quite useful for IR horses.
