Why are there so many interfering busybodies in the horse world...

I agree.

The worst thing is that for a moment they sometimes have me doubting myself. Then I realise what an idiot I was to listen to their bad advice in the first place.

pass them my way Faracat, I love to have fun with busybodies :D

Oooh, good idea. :)

I learnt recently that I do everything wrong re the way that I keep my horses. When this is added to the fact that I learnt from another BB that my mare was only fit for dog food and a different BB is amazed that the Arabs can function due to their sub-normal conformation... well it all adds up to a great big equine mess.

I think you'd have lots of fun. :D

If it helps, I can send you my virtual and patent pending t-shirt, the one that says
Thank you for your opinion, I don't believe I asked for it

Please let me know what virtual size you prefer:D

The best one, " your horse is ill, horses dont lie flat out unless there is something really wrong with it, and i know what i am talking about!!!" that horse is rolling because it probably has lice!!"

No no, silly, in the virtual world you need a size 10 of course;):)

Yay! :D

Oh dear.

Although that reminds me of when my filly (rose grey at the time) was sunbathing. A worried passer by thought that she was not only dead but had 'turned a funny colour.'

I heard a brilliant quote today, attributed to an old chap at a show "there's more folk with horses and fewer with horse sense" How right he is. Another phrase which sums it up is "an empty vessle makes most noise"

Although there are some experienced horse people who strongly believe that their way is the only way.

That is true, and I'm probably heading towards the camp that believes I am right  but in my defence, I usually only say anything if I am asked, or if what someone does impinges on me! eg. hacking out with others, I sometimes feel the need to suggest that people allow cars to come past! I do think that it is a good job that I am not on a yard, Sis and I usually agree, so as we share the horses, it's ok :D :D :D :D

That's very true YG.

Although there are some experienced horse people who strongly believe that their way is the only way.

There are many ways to skin a cat, although i may not agree with the way you do something, if it works who am i to tell you different!!
(although i may do if i am feeling pedantic) :D

Just to say i have never felt Pedantic and if anybody says other wise it is a viscous rumour and i will sue!!!

If I wrote down all the nonsense I'd heard lately I would be here all night. Worryingly it came from people who have responsibility for other people's horses. The fact that I didn't take any of their crazy opinions on board or listen to their lunatic advice got me labelled as snobby and a know it all. The most outrageous was actively encouraging the young owner of a horse with a cracked shoulder bone to start riding the horse 3 weeks into the advised 10 weeks box rest. Or the girl who left her horse with no hay all night but sprayed the straw bedding with flash kitchen spray to stop the horse eating the bed out of pure desperation. I could not wait to get off that yard. I despair at the utter crackpots who actually own horses!

That's awful.

I find them amusing really, my peverse sense of humour means I enjoy baiting them generally. I do also love the saying 'if I'd wanted your opinion, I'd have kicked your kennel'. Or the old classic, that rhymes with duck, & ends in off.

Its ok I jump YP to big according to a certain person  and he is to small to jump the height I jump on him... not what any instructor I have ever had has thought but what do they know?
