Okay then Ladies. Why are you all hanging onto to them there goodens! Don't be selfish, give an old gal her last quality ride.

Now then, I was brought up with horses, rode them all my life. Taught myself to ride at four, when the old guy was not looking. When he was I rode the cows. Nope I aint joking! Owned my first horse, my very own and not everyone else in the family at 10yrs a huge great hairy mammoth, named 'Dopey', thing was he wasn't, he was the most cantankerous fur ball I have ever ridden and most of the time I just hung on for dear life, when he took me for a ride. But we coped and eventually became friends.

Over the years I learnt a better way to ride, deviding my bottom into two, moving with the horse as one. I learnt the silent aids instead of pulling the reins left and right. I then had lessons with a good trainer and learnt amazing things. Horses were always my friends, but then I became theirs.

I have been riding for 70years and still ride em like I stole em!. Sad thing is all my friends grew old and fell to sleep, leaving me alone.

I have searched and searched for the 'right horse; for me. Like other threads posted here, we are all in the same boat, but mine is sinking faster than yours. I don't want anything young and green, been there, done and rode that. Rode em rearing, bucking and throwing themselves inside out, but there comes a time when your bones get old and your grip gets weaker.

I am no longer into eventing, competing and my jumping like a stag days are over. Don't get me wrong, I don't want a hairy dope on a rope, I want to go out in style with something fine and fancy between me thighs.

I just want it to be safe! So where are they all then?

sorry I haven't got anything suitable for sale! just had to reply as your post made me smile so much, I hope you find what you're looking for soon! x

I can't think of the right words, but that touched me deeply.

I hope you find the right one to have a blast with.

Great post, though I can't help I'm afraid!

I do think a Spanish horse would be perfect - great hacks with a certain joie de vivre and good looking. Though I admit that I'm biased!!

You've made my week by cheering me up and I hope you find a forever friend soon! I hope I'm still like that when I'm in my 70's although I have promised my self a matching driving pair when I'm 60!

Thank you girls for your lovely warm wishes and replies. I am in a bit of a rush right now (everything takes longer these days) but I will post more details as some of you requested later today.

I am on the Cornish border, bottom of Devon.

Have a good day girls full of fun.

Tears in my eyes, all your friends went to sleep. If my older horse was a little younger you and she could have been great friends. Sadly she, like you is now at the stage where her friends have gone to sleep and has had to make younger ones.

You are too far for me to be of any real help but I wish you every success in your search.

Love your post and what a brilliant outlook on life. I have been riding almost as long as you but I haven't done much competing. However, I have the perfect horse, wouldn't part with him for the World and I am hoping that we will grow old together.

Good luck with your search and I am sure Mr/Mrs perfect is out there!

What an inspiring post.I just hope i have the same guts and determination when i hit 70.Sorry i don't know of anything suitable for sale, but good luck with your search.

Sorry to hijack your post but I'm afraid you are a spring chicken compared to my old friend! She turned 85 this year and sadly lost her highland pony just before last christmas. She put off getting another as was waiting for a hip replacement, but as that took place 8 weeks ago, she is now on the search again!

She is looking for a bomb proof native type pony between 13.2 and 14.1 that preferably drives too. Aged pony acceptable as long as no major health issues. She too has been riding since very young, in fact she used to go to school at times on her pony! She is based in the north east of England. She definitely doesn't wish to 'ride like she stole it' though!
Please pm me if you think you may have something suitable and I will pass on your details.

As I said op, apologies for the hijack. You sound a wonderful person - very best wishes to you in your search.
