Hi all

After recent issues (previous post!) I'm back on the hunt for somewhere to move my 2 horses and mini Shetland. I've driven round and not been able to find anything suitable. It needs to be within 5ish miles of ilkeston/Stanton by Dale/trowell. Want either a long term tenancy so i can justify putting up shelters etc or a livery with stables, grazing. Need either good off road hacking or a ménage preferably both.

Not sure if my horses size puts places off? He's 17hh. Went somewhere yesterday, looked a bit like step toes yard (but was rather desperate at this point! Lol) and the owner said they only have small horses and ponies and turn her nose up like I'd just told her I had a horse with strangles!

My main issue is location as I have a tiny baby and a 4 year old so short on time so can't be traveling miles. Happy to pay around £25 pwph for diy or a bit more for part livery.

Just want a nice place i can enjoy my horses again as feel miserable since I've needed to move them. If i can't find somewhere by midsummer I am seriously going to have to consider selling them  as I just can't fit everything in.

Thanks for your help!

Have you tried Field Farm Livery at Cossall owned by Julie?

Its just up the road from where the xc course used to be (which is also a livery yard now apparently).

Is field farm also known as cedar farm? Do you know what it's like?

The one that used to by the xc course, do you know who owns it? I went past there the other day but the gates locked?

No idea who owns the xc course now....heard its got barbed wire fencing, but don't know how true that is or what its like...

Julie is lovely....don't think it used to be known as cedar farm.....it was empty for quite a while (couple of years) and got taken over by Julie about 2 years ago...not sure what the actual yard is like now as not been there for a year....

Cedar Farm is a different place (the Jolly's) - is right in Cossall village. Fields Farm is between Trowell and Cossall.

Look in the tackshops (i.e. Risley) or be prepared to drive around and leave notes on places that look like they might offer grazing.

I'm gonna 'do the rounds' again tomorrow. Will try thoses places thank you.

I was put off cedar farm as ive got a phobia of large yards, had massive bitchiness problems on one when I was younger so always tried to avoid, but happy to be proven wrong if someone recommends one!

Off the tops of my head -

Blants place in Kimberley
Blants place in Strelly (sp?) village
Sping Farm - end of Trowell moor turn left
The XC (and livery yard) use to belong to Mary Haynes and it was put up for sale a few years ago but think it only re-opened about a year ago
Patchetts in Cossell Village - top on the hill and straight in front of you as the road go to the left
There's a place on the top of the hill behind the pet crem on Trowell Moor but not 100% it's still going

Not great on Ilkeston or derbys I'm afraid but def go round the tack shops to see if people have places available

If i think of anywhere else i'll let you know

Happy hunting :D

Thanks moo wills A few there I didn't know about! Will definitely go to the ones in trowell as only 10 mins away!

Thanks, if anyone can think of anymore please add!

Thanks! X

Have you looked on preloved? There seems to be a fair bit being advertised locally on there. If it was a few months further down the line, I would possibly be in a position to offer you somewhere as I'm just looking into getting a horse again and will have a lot of grazing and need some company for whatever I decide to get, but at the minute the land isn't ready for a horse.

Thanks Jill will have a look on there. I'll pm u my details to keep if u want as vie been looking since before Xmas, so theres a chance I will still be looking in 3 months the rate I'm going!

Thanks!

If you want to pm me your details feel free. Once I have sorted the fencing etc out and got myself a horse, I will have the use of a lot of acres near Breaston/Draycott with stables, tack room and a menage. I will be looking for a sharer or two (subject to the owner but I can't see that being a problem) because I'm only planning on one horse and will want company for him or her.
