I'm not asking for the moon. Just someone that can ride my daughters 15.3hh 12 year old coloured horse and can cope with his strong moments when out for a gallop. All I'm getting is not very strong people that have no real get up and go. This boy loves to sj, xc, drag hunt etc and the sharer would have the opportunity to do all that but can't find anyone. If you know of someone in the nottingham/derby/leicester area please tell them about him.

I know this is a generalisation but most riders with good experience and confidence have their own horses. Keep advertising, im sure the right person is out there

I wish you were closer....you may well find someone like myself who had to give up having their own for one reason or another and can only commit to sharing.

He sounds lovely, if only i was in that area sounds like just what id be looking for now i have to sell my boy. Dont despair the right person is out there, better to spend a while and find the right person than have someone unsuitable.

He is lovely. Might have to ride him myself for a while as daughter is at uni. Luckily its local so she can get sometimes. My problem is I am used to big chunky horses

You could try advertising the share for free. My mare can be a real handful and I have a good competent rider whom I trust and she exercises her for me, I don't charge her or anything and sometimes feel I should be paying her as it's a real help.

I wish you were in Devon! I am actually considering paying to hack out at a riding school, so I can get fit enough to back my filly next Spring. Sad

If you ever decide to put him on full loan while your daughter is at Uni, then PM me as I am having to retire one of my horses and shall shortly be looking for a similar type to loan.

Where exactly are you Nottingham, Derby or Leicester there are quite some miles between them. Or are you letting him be moved for loan?.

Im really sorry I couldnt help you - hes just a bit too small and too far for me.

To vouch - I have this pics of this horse and hes gorgeous!

I very much agree with above. Unfortunately I ve never had any luck with loaners for any of my past horses. For some reason they always seem incredibly novicy, and straight out of the riding school menage, with no strength or confidence either.
Hope you find someone but it may take a while - he sounds fabulous.

Breaston near junction 24/25 of the M1 so its easy for people to get to from derby, notts and leicester. His sharer that has him at the moment is only leaving because she is going to live in germany. She is brilliant with him and loves him to bits. Cally yes it was a shame he was not big enough and too far away. But like you said he is gorgeous

I think that is a bit much of a generalisation. There are plenty of people out there who are competent and confident, and don't have their own horses for financial or time reasons - for example students/graduates who had to sell their own before uni and are not in any kind of position to be buying another.

To the OP - I think it could depend on what kind of financial contribution you're asking for. He sounds like a fab horse, and well worth paying for, but as many of the competent and currently horseless riders are in that position for financial reasons, if you're asking for a decent contribution, you might well alienate a lot of people who would otherwise be perfect.

If getting him exercised and having some help looking after him is the priority, then I would perhaps reduce or leave out the money side of things for the time being.

I shared a 17hh tbx cb hunter over the summer and paid £130 per month + did all her jobs 6 days a week except morning turnout ! Then they moved her away ! gutted

You are right tho about most sharers being novicy tho , its usually a friend of a friend who comes up .

I had gone to see a differant horse being ridden at a show to try out - When the guy doing the transport offered his her to me ! said he didn't want to advertise as you get numpties and she was to much of a handful

Your horse sounds lovely - if only you were up north !

Deb - put some pics of him on here - that might help.

If he needs exercising once a week I might be able to help if your struggling for a few weeks.

I also think thats a generalisation about people having there own horses. some complete novices have their own horses and there are some good people out there that dont and for various reasons may not. like I am not bad rider but after getting back into riding after 7 years bit rusty on stable management etc and sharing seemed a bit more than riding lessons and a good way to start.

PM me, I'm in Derbyshire, and although not actively looking for a share loan at the moment may be interested.

I'd be especially interested if it is a cobby type that might be suitable to carry my husband. He's self employed so flexible on time.

It probably depends on where you are advertising too - many people advertise in feed places, riding clubs and tack shops whereas most riders that don't currently have horses wouldn't see the ad! So maybe try supermarkets, local papers, local newsagents?
I keep hearing that there are loads of horses for share at the moment, but I've not seen any ads!
