Hi all, I know you will be honest, so tell me why my brand new heritage double bridle, cob size did not sell on ebay.

It is brand new as i deicided not to show my boy and still has the tags. I even put a low start of 12.50 on ebay to get interest as it cost me a lot more than that!

Anyway had 5 watchers and no bids. Someone emailed me today and offered £10.00.

There are other brand new heritage bridles for at least £33? Mine also has the 2 sets of brand new reins with it.

I have relisted it, with a £14.50 start as i don't really want it to go for less than £20

What would you do?

Is heritage not a good make?

Sorry, brutal but intended to be helpful.

I've just looked at your listing - that photo is NOT helping any.

Take some more photos: if it's got to hang from a door handle then at least show it the right way up, try to take the photo so that the design of the nose and browbands can be seen, show a picture with the reins in, also try to get a photo showing the tags that are on it - I can't see them in your picture at all. It would help if the colour could actually been seen as well, and the colour of the fittings.

Also fill in the item specifics with the size, brand, material etc.

Finally, you take PayPal so I assume you know that you need to send by a signed for method of delivery.

FWIW I actually saw your ad first time round and passed over it - too many things I couldn't ascertain from the picture. I've bought "as new" bridles in the past with dodgy photos and have been sent a pile of carp. I'm sure yours isn't like that but it's a risk I and others may not want to take.

Oh and better luck this time with better piccies.

It will be because you have a very low feedback and there has been very little acctivity on your account. You would be better off getting a mate with an established feedback as a seller to list it.

Try selling some low value items (clear out your old cd's, used odds and ends of tack, clear out your wardrobe etc to build a reputation as a seller.

Also, accept other forms of payment besides PayPal. Some people will only pay via cheque or PO because of the ethical practices of PayPal (they facilitate some very unsavoury sites as they provide the means by which people pay for porn) Some people don't want to divulge their bank account details online no matter how secure the server claims to be!

Also, try offering it world wide. You just adjust the postage accrdingly... there could be someone in the Australian outback desparate for a double bridle... who knows!

Also, try and SELL your item, I would write something like "Gorgeous soft genuine English Leather Cob size Double Bridle, hand made in Walsall, England. This Show quality bridle will set off your horses head beautifuly. I am gutted that it didn't fit my pony who is more full size han cob. The buyer will be delighted with this beautiful bridle.. grab a bargain" Then measure the bridle and include the measurements so people can compare it to something they have. Try and do a close up photo that shows off the stitching and finish of the bridle.

Good luck!

I tend to go along with the previous poster.... your photograph does you no favors, it doesn't look new, the picture is on its side, you cannot see the labels in fact you cannot see any detail of the bridle at all.

Look at this advert & see the quality of the photos & details shown & you will see the difference & ask yourself which you would bid on.

Heritage is an OK make but at the budget end of the market, as you will see with the other bridles advertised there are only a few bids registered. Good Luck with your sale.

I'd put a lower start price on it, if you're prepared to risk not getting what you want for it. Or leave it for now and relist in a little while? I've just sold some stuff on Ebay that didn't raise any interest earlier in the year - I think it's luck of the draw really.

Because its Heritage? I dont know what you paid for it, but Heritage bridles are sold through the same traders who sell Rhinegold. The company are quite happy about selling to local studs / yards etc. at trade prices. Its extremely easy to place orders through the studs / yards (most yards I know encourage it because we then cover the postage so they dont have to pay it and the more you order of 1 item, the cheaper they are!). Ive bought some stuff (including a Heritage bridle for only £15) through it. So I guess a lot of people do it this way!

I would definately agree with some of the above... clear pics are a must!

Also it didnt sell the first time, so why have you relisted it at a higher price??

I wouldnt be put off at all by the fact you have a low ebay feedback score as we all have to start somewhere!

Sometimes on ebay there just isnt a buyer looking for that specific bit of kit.... and thats that!

Thanks for all your feedback, its been so useful. :

Take all your points on board and you are right about the photos, I will address today.

It is my first time selling on Ebay and hadn't thought that people would try and pass of a crappy bridle for a new one etc..

Have put a higher price on it, as i would rather keep it and relist later than sell it for next to nothing now.
