I came back from a ride on monday evening, it was a warm evening, but she wasnt that sweaty... when i turned her back out she went over to a patch of sandy soil and started licking the ground and was doing it for about 5 minutes... is she lacking in something? Why did she do it?

Ours do that too. Id always been lead to believe that it was a mineral deficiancy but we have licks in the stable and my boy wont touch it, so maybe not??

Sometimes they lick the ground, sometimes a brick wall. It's said that some minerals or salt may be lacking in the diet. You can try putting a suppliment into the feed, something like Equivite. It's got everything they would need, it's very cheap & won't do them any harm.
