Why do I do this??

Need a bit of cheering up, and a reminder of why I actually do this...
The mare has been lame for 4 weeks now, 3 of them on box rest. We finally diagnosed a bruised foot after 3 vet visits and nerve blocks. Poulticed and it got better. So, on Friday, vet said shoes can go back on. Weather too awful on Saturday to turn out, so I lunged her in the school. Guess what, she's lame again!! Must be the shoe that's gone on too soon...
Finally able to put her out today and, me being nice, I put an under rug on under her turnout rug (I figured, she's been on box rest, she might be cold). Ha! She managed to wiggle out of it and has left it in a ripped up muddy heap in the boggiest bit of the field. I have just had this rug repaired!
She also doesn't seem to be settling in her field and is shouting and running around whenever someone walks past.
So, I'm poor, have a lame horse who seems intent on trashing everything she owns and who also seems intent on making herself worse!
Why didn't I go to chess classes rather than riding lessons when I was a kid???

Whats that saying? Horses are great levellers?

Somedays you can get so fed up that you just want to throw your hands up but aslong as the thought of losing said horses scares you then you are still under horses spell.

Might explain why we are willing to trog through knee high mud/snow/wind/rain, etc just to take care of the ponios
 
Sorry to hear about your troubles, but things will come right in the end. I think horses can be a bit like that and have you up high and down low in emotions in one fell swoop. But as Huggy-bear says...if you feel you could not live without...then it will come right.
