Casually browsing for sale ads to wind myself up.

now I’ve found 2 horses I quite like, one especially is a good price, nice age, looks very level headed, exactly my sort of horse but I’m so not in a buy right now!

Realistically I’m looking at buying this time next year, but now I’m like “what if I just…” but I have to keep reminding myself I turned down being paid to ride last year because I can’t do 3.

Because when you window shop you can find plenty that will suit and when you look for real you can’t find any?!

There is a horse for sale currently (or was for sale, taken off the market temporarily and due to go back up) that I really really want to at least go and view, with the serious intention of buying if I like him as much IRL. However I’m moving in 2 months time and he’s a bit more than I can really afford so I’m sitting on my hands.
I tend to think if it’s meant to be it will.

This time last year I wasn’t looking but was looking. Saw one I really loved. Had a moment of madness and bought her even though I didn’t want 3. justified it as either of the old 2 could go over the rainbow at any point and would then need to buy another one anyway. Still have the old 2 ??? but it’s been the best decision. Life’s too short to always be sensible ?

They’d be on 2 different yards otherwise I really would be going to look at him. But I’m not getting home until gone 8:30pm now, so adding more travel, and another horse on to that it’s not really feasible

8:30 is late enough to get home. I forget about travel time for other folk. Mine stay at home so takes 5 seconds to walk to the stables. I hope when your ready to look you find one no problem. ?

They’re about 4 hours from me and I never heard of them but there’s a lot of people selling horses! And those types would be way out of my budget ? find it odd they’re in sterling though as they’re not near the north

I've got my eye on afew horses on www.irishsportequine.com - never heard of them though - anyone got any reviews?

Definitely not looking until January though! :p:D

All I'd say is be very specific, be very aware - and get an expert independent vet to carry out vetting.
Gertie has very quick sales, she has odd rules about trying them too.

I found a lovely two year old the other night for £1500! The thought of getting a young horse that I can just work on handling for now whilst still riding my old boy and then when he gets to retirement age, have something new to start working with is getting more appealing. Also a good, quality horse is much more affordable when bought as a blank canvas… maybe food for thought for next year!!

I will be looking for something young when I look too, 3/4 year old probably.
3 years ago I wouldn’t have had the confidence but after reschooling one and rebacking one I’m much more confident in the abilities my instructor always told me I had!
