Why do I get dizzy riding on the right rein?

It's really starting to bug me now :(
I can ride on the left rein just fine, circles, even tiny ones, no problem. The moment I go onto the right rein, I feel dizzy and it feels really awkward. My balance is fine, but it feels like I'm spinning and gives me a bit of a headache if I dare stay on a circle for long. It's worse towards the end of a schooling session.

Thing is, I can't remember it happening before I came off a few weeks ago & hit my head (tree incident...) and can't remember when exactly it started happening.

I had to just give up doing certain things on the right rein this morning because it made me feel ill to some extent :(

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Sol x.

Maybe :( But not had any other problems at all and I can't remember it being a problem at a time?
Tbh I might also wait until I've ridden a different horse in the school (that'll be monday) as I'm not entirely sure it isn't just me doing something weird with the way I ride Dante :o Turning almost feels difficult to the right when on him, but he falls out on that rein too - or tries - which makes it feel worse...

But no, I haven't been to the doctors, they usually aren't very helpful so I stopped bothering.....! Not good, I know :p

The fact you hit your head in an accident makes me think you should go to the doctor. Head injuries have to be taken seriously. Don't worry, the doctor will probably be able to sort you out no problem :)

I don't know what you could be doing to make yourself dizzy, it could be something else, thats not related to your fall, and it was agravated by the fall.
Or you might just be travel sick lol ;)

I don't know, I'm weird!

Will see if I can get to doctors early next week, though don't hold out much hope - last time I hit my head it was just 'yeah, you probably have concussion, you'll be fine.' :/

Travel sick.... shall I get my mum to drive around a round about for 5 mins to see if the same thing happens?! xD Never know.... :p

As you have had a bang on the head definitely go to the doctors.

Meanwhile I had this happen a couple of years ago. I know how it feels I had to stop part way through a lesson as I thought I was going to be sick.

Now I will probably get shot down for inaccurate science but I will say it the way I understand it.

In your inner ear there is a chamber with liquid and tiny little hairs which look after your balance. Sometimes tiny microscopic particles of 'stuff' I think it might be calcium or that could be rubbish so we will call it stuff are floating around and get attached to a hair. A knock or bang will move this so basically on one side your brain does not know which way is up sort of. Once your brain works it out it will go away.

Mine went it just took a about a week I think.

OP - Go to the doctor.
I fell off and banged my head at the beginning of Feb. I thought I was ok, although I didn't ride much as my mare was off work with a bad back (hence her bucking me off on the road), when I did ride I felt a bit stiff. Then in June, so 3 months later, after being taken ill at work, I was diagnosed with a trapped nerve in my neck, which was making me feel faint & dizzy. Doctors told me that was from the fall. I have had physio and the therapist sent me back to doctor as she thought there was something else going on. This time I was told I had a viral infection of the inner ear. My symptoms all along have been dizziness, almost feeling drunk. I have got some tablets which are given, amongst other things, for sea-sickness and labyrinthitis which have made a lot of difference. You will only get a diagnosis if you go to the doctor and they should be able to help you.
Flibble - that sounds very similar to my GP's explanation and yes, I think she said calcium, which forms tiny stones in the inner ear. Interestingly my reflexologist thought that I had an inner ear prob before I went back to the GP
