mine and daughters horses are on the slow rehab road following injury and im not activley looking for a new horse ,in fact divorce papers would probably be served BUT i keep finding perfect sounding horses ie 15.2 middleweight coloured mare, perfect allrounder mother daughter share.

Financially and practically not viable as already thinking of winter and daughter off to uni but cant stop myself looking. is it sods law as whenever i have been looking theres nothing suitable at all.?

Yes but they always sound good, its when you get there you realise they are not quite the one:)

second and third this, I have seen approx ?8 horses and only 2 were as described(& 2 with normal owners who told the truth etc) despite my interrogations prior to the long journeys. I got put right recently & after speaking locally to the horse folk that there is no need for me to go travelling so far and wide! Just bide my time and it will turn up...taps fingers!! So I am trying to stick to local as from today!! Realising it could take months now. But if its right I will know. Also got told there are not that many good ones for sale currrently by someone who has just purchased after a long search(which suprised me not what I keep hearing)

Plod must be out there somewhere.......I agree though with your title I keep finding horses that I like the look of, sound perfect but usually in Wales or Scotland or Devon etc!!

Always honest about the girls I have bred, but yes they are in Devon! Having said that we are close to the main dual carriageway so at least it's not miles down winding country lanes. Trouble is it's a rural area, with plenty of hunts so plenty of horses. Might be you have to look at such areas. Last one I bought I travelled for 2 hours through snowy weather to see her. If you think it's the right horse, it's suddenly worth the travel.

I'm having the opposite problem - looking and can't find anything I like! I've phoned up about ONE who sounded perfect, someone else was going to see him, and the owner let me know yesterday that he'd been sold.

Waaaah!

pip6 - around 16hh, between 5 and 10yo, preferably a gelding BUT I'm not completely discounting mares, wanted for hacking, a bit of dressage and the odd jump, level of schooling not particularly important. Fairly low budget. I'd quite like an exracer, as I love TBs. The one I phoned about was an exracer, the man who was selling him knows a lot of people in racing so he's going to keep an eye out for something similar, which I thought was very nice of him :)

I think my main problem is the fact that my budget is quite small, everything I see advertised that I can afford is a) too small, b) too old, or c) unbroken.

Will keep my eyes & ears open for you. Have tried the godolphin racing site?

Thanks :) Had a quick look at the site, but I'm a LONG way from Newmarket! There are quite a lot of racing stables in the Scottish Borders, so I think that area's probably my best bet.
