When I was looking for a new horse last year we found the perfect one, he was everything I was after. To cut a long story short we had him vetted on a Weds & was going back for him the Sat to get a txt the Sat morning to be told they had sold him to someone else even tho we had paid out on a vetting . So after a snotty txt message back we put it down to experience & did eventually find a horse.

Anyway to this day I still think about him as I was gutted/angry & I have just gone onto a horsey site to have a nose to find he is on there for alot of money as he doing really well. Is it sad that I am still gutted even a year on  I am happy with my boy now, but still just feel bit upset :(

No that is perfectly understandable, I would be furious! In fact I would have royally booted off and demanded they refund me for the vetting! Some people are soo ignorant!

I can remember you posting about the other horse on Jill's forum and about them selling him on even though you had paid out for a vetting. I would have been mad about that and i can understand you still thinking about him.
I still think about a horse i nearly bought but i saw Charlie a few days later and couldn't leave him as he was in a bad state. I have actually found the other horse last week and really thrilled as he has a lovely home but i hadn't stopped thinking about him.

Is it usual to be angry about this? I 100% agree it was under handed but would you have a leg to stand on if you kicked off and asked for the vetting fee to be paid by them?
The way i see it (and forgive me im a newbie) you have to have a survey done if you are serious about buying a house but if it doesnt come up trumps then you swallow that cost and move on ... Surely its the same?

Or do you put a deposit down with 'subject to vetting' type of contract/ verbal agreement?

Thanks

I never said that we wanted them to give us the money for the vetting, we was just upset & angry that they done it to us & put it down to experience!

As I said it was a year ago now, just sad to see him up for sale again :(

Aww I would be sad too! Yes Antw23uk it is normal to agree a sale subject to vetting, best to leave a deposit to secure it but they still shouldn't allow anyone else to buy if someone is having a vetting done.. When I bought my horse we did emails back and forth to acknowledge deposit and sale subject to vetting etc.
