So yet again my malamute has been harrassesd by a snappy jack russell. We were having a lovely walk through our local park last night with our 2 off the lead just bimbling along as they do when 2 jack russells made a bee line for them. Our boy is a total wimp who hid behind tey while the 2 terriers really laid into her (she has 3 puncture wounds on her belly but is fine) Obviously I am pleased that although she makes a lot of noise to stand up for herself she didn't retaliate as I am sure she could have done them alot of damage but why is it always JRTs that go for her, one day she will decide to get in first then what would happen? ! I also dont know what to make of the owner who couldn't recall her terrier properly and openly admitted that her dog was at fault and that they are always ganging up on other dogs, honestly if this is the case why were they not on a lead but on the other hand it was nice to meet a small dog owner who didnt want to put all the blame on the big scarey malamute!

If she has puncture wounds I would pop her to the vet or clean them out - the could go nasty if left.

I think that I'M going have to be dragged off the next dog that attacks mine, it's getting annoying now.

Her wounds have had a thourough cleaning with hibby scrub and am keeping a close eye on them but so far there is no local swelling or tenderness or anything else that would imply they are going to be a problem.

I have the same problem with one particular Border Terrier that is walked around the orchards near my house, it always goes for Logan's throat. He dances around it and generally just runs big fast circles so he can avoid getting bitten but isn't far from me. The woman always nervously tries to recall her dog and tries to tell me he is playing. Mhmm. Of course he is. If Logan retaliated and bit back, you can guarantee she'd go mental and start the whole Staffy bashing nonsense. *rolls eyes*

This bugs me too. My bitch is always on the lead with me and one man with 3 off lead terriers just lets one snarl and bark like crazy a few feet from us. Doesn't bite her, thank goodness, but the owner makes no attempt to stop it from threatening us. Doesn't seem to think it's a problem!
