WHY do people waste your time phoning about ponies that they have no intention of buy

As the title, i am trying to sell a quiet safe child's first pony and I have had a horrible time taking calls from people who then either try the pony and say they want it then vanish never to be heard from again, or spend hours on the phone chatting then say they will phone back to arrange to view-then you guessed it they don't call. Even my vet has done this to me!!!!!

Timewasters!!!!!

Why get my hopes up, they all promise a "forever home" and the best of everything. Do they just enjoy chatting on the phone?

I don't get it either. Why say you want the pony or you want to come and try, when clearly you don't?

Yesterday the call was from an extremely well known riding centre - who should have known better! I am actually now suspicious that the call was fake-and the caller was not from that riding centre at all.

I do have a friend wanting her but on loan, and I really don't want to loan.

I get this all the time. At the moment Im selling my one-in-a-million horse which Im gutted about so its hard to discuss over the phone. Because he's priced at the higher end I've pitched him more at the national market, as a result I've had nothing but calls from people in the South of England. Thats fine, but I always tell them exactly where I am in the very first 5 mins of the conversation and they say its fine and then we chat for up to 20 mins. They end it saying my horse sounds perfect and they'll go and look at flights and call back. I never hear from them again! I've had at least 10 calls exactly like this! If its too far for you to travel (for what you say is the perfect horse...) then dont waste my time!

I'm selling another horse at the moment too - total opposite of mine, a very big WB type who is quite green and young. I've had 2 people call who thought she would suit them - one beginner (despite saying no novices!) and one for her daughter who'd be coming off a 13hh native.... (this is a 17.1hh green horse?!). Some people are so weird.

One woman spent all morning on the phone then 2.5 hours viewing, left saying she was arranging a vetting, then did a huge swerve when I saw her in Tesco obviously avoiding me!

I am getting stressed out about it, I have just bough a pony and I was straight with sellers, and when we found the right one I just bought it.

Its the people who say they will phone back then don't who really get to me. Why lead someone on?
