Why DO we love horses so much? What is it about them?

Obviously, we are all EXTREMELY biased on here, but I am wondering what it is about horses that sucks us in?

My OH is non horsey, and I am always exclaiming to him why they are such wonderful creatures. They are brave, so versatile, adaptive, amazing animals. They can turn their hoof to almost anything. They trust is. They fought our wars, and helped us shape the modern world. They are simply amazing!

Help me come up with more reasons why horses are so incredible?!

For me it just their sheer, beauty, strength and presence - they are spell binding and the sight of my Lusto's and PRE's grazing in the field always stops me dead in my tracks.

They are loyal servants, friends, forgiving, trusting and have an air of serinity about them.

What more could we want to fall in love with.

This says it way better than I ever could...

Ode to the Horse

Where in this wide world can man find nobility without pride, friendship without envy or beauty without vanity? Here, where grace is laced with muscle, and strength by gentleness confined.

He serves without servility; he has fought without enmity. There is nothing so powerful, nothing less violent, there is nothing so quick, nothing more patient.

England’s past has been borne on his back. All our history is his industry; we are his heirs, he our inheritance.

The Horse!

This is lovely! thank you for posting!

There is something about the outside of a horse that's good for the inside of a man ....... (or woman of course! lol) Winston Churchill. Says it all really! :D

Love everything about them.....but especially their 'smell' when you kiss them on the nose and they breathe out ... ah horse breath lol
bit strange i know lol

Because who needs money??!!!

Mmmmm seriously, love the smell of them, the trust they put in you, the way they reflect how you feel, how your horse only looks out for you regardless of others being fed etc. Just EVERYTHING about them.

(despite all the injuries over last 7 mth with the new girl!!) wouldn't be without. It's a way of life.

I just cannot imagine being without my horses. Even on the darkest days, when things have not gone so well, there is something about them that makes it all so worthwhile. Doesn't matter whether I'm freezing cold, exhausted, sick of mud, I never begrudge a minute (or pound) that I spend on my horses. When we do well together I'm as high as a kite and feel like the happiest person alive. When we're quietly hacking down the lane together, I feel the greatest sense of inner peace. They make me laugh (yeah - I admit to them also making me cry once or twice!!), but their honesty, grace, trust, and the respect that such colossal animals hands over to me, it's beyond words.
