Why do we not use a canopy/awning over an outdoor school ?

Having a discussion today with my sharer who is French. She’s from the south of France and many have canopies/awnings of canvas, over the outdoor school that they ride in. Presumably because it’s so hot. She can’t understand why we don’t use them in the UK to stop getting wet. To be honest , I’ve never seen any here. And not sure how structurally secure it would need to be. Or the cost.

Because it would collect tons of water and probably break if you mean a fabric canopy and a solid one would be prohibitively expensive given the size of even quite small arenas and for that you'd also need planning permission I think as it would be a permanent structure.

Because it would be likely to blow away! Have you never been to an outdoor show, in summer, and watched loads of people struggling to keep stalls/marquees in place?

It was bad enough in the 'tent' ring at Wembley in bad weather, rain was actually worse than wind there!
