He is not on his own he has 2 companions, does anyone elses horse do this, it makes me feel so guilty! I do spend as much time as time allows with him, what with a young family, work and hubby to all keep happy too!

Should i stop beating myself up about it and just feel thankful that he loves me, or should i worry?

I shouldn't worry, it sounds as if he is besotted with you. He probably associates you with his dinner and is hoping by begging he will get some more. If he seems happy with his field mates and there is no bullying, I'd be very grateful. Mine just stares at me then carries on eating.

What's his history? My baby horse was just the same at first, he loved to come in for cuddles and a snooze indoors, wasn't at all fussed about being in the field. I think he hadn't had a lot of turnout at the dealers and really didn't 'get' being in a field. Also he was bottom of the pecking order and got pushed away by the big boys.

I put him with a very gentle pony and gradually he got better over the summer but I have now been mean and turned him away for a few months with his gentle friend, a very easy going older horse and a 2 year old. He's now boss of the field and loving it. Still comes for cuddles and apples but then goes away from me again of his own accord.

I think it's a babyish thing. Give him time and enjoy the cuddles while they last!
