why does my colt paw at feed bucket to tip it over

hi my colt has recently started kicking his feed bucket over with front feet tipping feed all over the floore. just woundered why horses do this is it naughty is he looking for something or is it natural doesnt bother me that he does it just woundered why

My new horse does it and he drives me mad. I dont know how much he is actually getting. He spreads it all over his bed then drags his bed up to look for it. He has got better though. I think its just over excitement, as I dont think he has had much hard feed previously. I must admit that he has got much better though.

My TB does it too, always has.......some days she does it more than others. I now place her bucket in a tire which stops her from tipping it everywhere - esp when theres a greedy cob lurking to hoover up the feed shes dropped :rolleyes:

Pure excitement!

If you think he's gobbling his feed too fast, then try giving him a bit of hay/haylage in a net for 15 minutes first to take the edge off his appetite.
