I was at a show yesterday on an all weather arena, the warm up arena wasnt v big but people were standing around with horses/ on horses and were told by the show organiser to not wait around in the ring but of course those pushy type showjumping parents didnt really feel they had to listen. My ponio was having a quite naughty day and wasnt 100% listening anyway these people were standing there and my ponio had a moment and reversed and nothing else and didnt even touch this women, the women then started effing and blinding about it and continued this everytime i walked past for the next 2 hours after i proceeded to beat her daughter on a smaller pony than hers in a 3'3'' class who was in tears after being had a go at my this women. I was in two minds wether to go speak to them or not btw i apologised and to tell them they were in the wrong and if they wanted to go on at me to do it so to my face, what would you have done?

Although there was some lovely people there who after having a quite difficult day with with my pony although we got 3 double clears and an elimintation as pony refused to go forward at this point although we were no where near start gates or jumps lol and she adores jumping and lives for it. So we did the next class which we did well in yay. Her temperment at shows has completley changed since last year has anyone had the same prob everything in her routine is pretty much the same ??

sorry to hear you had a rough day, sadly, you meet these types in the horsey world. My advice is to get on with your own thing and ignore them - as much as you can as i know its not easy.

Can you think of any reasons why your ponys temperament may have changed this year? How are they are home? Could it maybe be the saddle no longer fits? Have they had a bad experience last time out?

Luckilotti shes the same at home as last year, no real feed or routine change. Saddle has been checked. Weve never had bad experiences and she is really relaxed/more relaxed on the ground at shows than on the ground than at home and loads herself and really enjoys it hmmm although it may be to do with the fact we have only done showjumping i may do a workers with her and see if her behaviour is better.

Also i would have said fairenough if she had stood on them or kicked them but she DIDNT and they would have been well within their rights to have a go at me but i cant beleive some people are so petty but there was a lovely few people who saw what happened and were a bit like wtf and wee really lovely bout me+ponio as we managed to get souch a lovely last round in apart from a minor fight on a v. tight turn but im still pleased

Maybe she's getting a bit bored if you're doing it a lot. I would say six rounds of jumping (3 normal and 3 jump offs) would be more than enough for a horse - I never do more than 2 classes as it does take it out of them, especially with the ground as hard as it is at the moment - mine went lame just galloping about the field with the new resident.

(he's fine by the way, just a tweak as much better the next day but it's always on the weekend isn't it!)

hmmm.....very well could be that she fancies a change for a while. esp if you practice a lot at home.
Could it be that she is just showing more heavily in season hence changing at certain times?

hmmm i thought about seasons but it has lasted more than the usual season period but we will see. We never really practice at home and as i said this was on an all weather arena(as i was scared of the hard ground :S) also was no where near the jumps at the time as hadnt started the course and refused to go forward after i asked for a canter lead change as it was quite a tight course and on that leg she would have made it very hard for herself. I did the next class just to make sure it wasnt jumping related and she felt amazing and jumped lovely. She is the type of pony who once she dosnt want to do something wont lol but i always make sure any probs are worked straight through and she was awesome after. She loves to jump and she will point out when something she dosnt want to do or is upset about something (i.e. she became depressed for a day or two when i was away for a couple of days but as soon as i was back she was as bouncy plus happy as anything. We have a pretty strong bond and she came with no manners and was a little to intelligent for her own good :P so i think ) Everything checked with her btw
