im just wondering why my vet has tested one of my horses for an egg count?

a few weeks ago on of my fillies had sand colic... anyway just after that they had a worm count done (as they do every few months) by my vet All of them were well below and therefore didnt need worming.
my vet came back to do a check up on my filly on monday (the same vet that did worm count no later than 2 weeks ago) and did a worm count on her again? (i didnt know he had done one until i got my vet bill today)

why has he done another one even though HE did all of the herd 2 weeks ago and all are fine (also fillies is fine to after BOTH counts)
is this standard practice with every medical visit now or something??? can someone please tell me? thanks x

Maybe he's just being extra careful given the colic episode?

Did he suggest blood testing her too for tapeworm, or was he confident that the colic was down to sand ingestion?

he didnt suggest anything (he is quiet rude and i am thinking about moving vets as he is really not helpful either)
they have all been tested for red worm and tape worm and only 2 have had to been wormed for tape.
no he was very sure it was sand ingestion as on the night she coliced her poo was basically sand. and we later found out where i had bought her from a few months ago she was in a sand paddock (no grass) and chicked in hay and feed onto floor. which must have been how she ate so much and now she is on good grass and feed from a bucket it had started working its way through (what the vet said) i had never had a horse with sand colic before so it was all new?
but surely if he had done a worm count after she had coliced and it came back ok why do another 2 weeks later surely she couldnt get that much of a worm burden in 2 weeks in a paddock alone??? x

sorry for rant too lol:rolleyes:

i am absolutly furious. i bred this filly and sold her to this female.. when she left me it was stright from a field full of grass to a electric fenced square with no grass, so wheres the soil come from! then she falsifies paperwork and reg her with different parents. my lesson is learned never trust someone else to send your paperwork off for you.. i am only glad she has sold tuppence now just waiting for baps or myself to trace new owner to give them a update about tuppences pedigree.

He may have done a 'Sand Test', where you put some droppings in a rectal sleeve, add water and leave hanging up for 24hrs. The sand will sink to the bottom of the glove if the horse has it in it's system.

sorry op.... To vision- your popping up everywhere. you commented on another thread saying you bread this filly and the paper work was false? whats your beef? why are you trying to stir?

op- i cant say mine have had an egg count after a colic episode. i would query it. maybe it was a mistake on the invoice.

I wondered, Ihotse
So, how come two people have been accused of falsifying paperwork by the same poster today? And, numpty question, what's the difference between somebody's name being in black and dark brown (not the 'normal' brown)
Odd, though, never had that sort of thing from our vets

Yeh, I just realised that as well. Normally, a banned poster is in dark red. Maybe it's someone who has requested their profile to be locked? Or maybe it's a lifetime ban as apposed to a 6 month one?

That would make sense, I can't see what OP did to get banned, at least it isn't glaringly obvious from what I can see, so maybe they asked to be locked. Bizarre.

The following post is in the Breeding forum in response to a post by 'Yorkshire Dumpling';

Here is an advert I found I have copied and pasted below. This is from one of my good friends the breeder of this filly 'APRILFALL TUPPENCE 2yrs appaloosa filly sold by Kaz Dumplin Mainprize. need to trace new owner. tuppence has been reg as out of august gypsy moth, its a lie. this filly has been reg on baps main reg. she is only eligable to go on the annex reg. new owner please contact me i am the breeder. this has been reported.'

My friend owns Kadan stud who bred this filly whom yorkshire pudding has now sold on a week or so back. Kadan stud has Corskie Vision who this filly is by but the girl who has been asking about its pedigree on this forum has decided upon her silly self to register it with BaPS as being out of a mare who never carried it! The stallion has not been near August Gypsy Moth. Kadan Tuppence should be this fillys registered name and kadan stud trusted this woman to register it with the correct pedigree. I am assuming the reason its got this pedigree is because she thought it would make the horse more saleable! I'm also presuming that the society do not require foals to be DNA tested and this is why its been allowed. The relevant society has been notified of this but we are now trying to trace the new owner of this filly as we fear she has bought this filly because of its pedigree and she needs to be rightfully informed. I'm also assuming Yorkshire pudding you are aware of the illegalities of falsely registering this fillys pedigree and the consequences that will occur.
And before you comment that her pedigree is on All Breed Pedigree Query I can for one tell you anybody and I mean anybody can put their horses pedigree be it correct or not and therefore cannot be used as an accurate reference.

I would like to apologise to the rest of the people who have so willingly and helpful discussed your fillys so called pedigree but you have lead them to believe it has a pedigree it doesn't. Ps sorry if there are any typos I'm so annoyed by this womans deceit it is untrue!!

Wow. Well, at first, I thought that Vision was just stirring, until I started reading the threads posted by Yorkshire Pudding and Tuppence, and then I started to think that htere was something weird going on. Hope the breeder gets to the bottom of it.

I'm a bit confused :confused:Are Yorkshire Pudding and Tuppence the same person?

That's what I thought to start with, to be honest. The posting style is very similar - hardly any capital letters and lots of ???!!!! ... On the other hand, that's not too unusal for this forum. :D

I don't know if they are the same person or not, but it looks like something dodgy is going on.

Oooh, this is all very interesting! :D I'm a little ashamed to say I would never have twigged if it weren't for you guys figuring it out :o

Koko, I'm with you, is TF even more banned than other banned people?
