why hasnt this been on tv? or is it just my area?

I think there should be an advertising campaign on TV, people do need to be educated but sadly I suppose its down to money. However I don't think that ad would be helpful because the riders don't move to single file which is the polite thing to do, we have to play our part if we want drivers to play theirs. It really winds me up when I pass riders carefully and they cant be bothered to say thank you it makes me want to stop and say its because of people like you people drive past me too fast

I'm not so sure thats a great video actually. To me they should have gone single file once the car came behind them and the nervous horse in front.
I've got a horse thats bad in traffic and I would have pulled over into that driveway to let him pass. However I'm more than guillty of riding in the middle of the road to stop cars. My sound is off though, so may have missed some horn honking?

Saying that the driver is very impatient and irate.

I think a video showing how horses are easily spooked at things in the hedge for instant would help or I could do a brilliant video with my horse spinning around if a car comes too quickly towards us!

I always ride two abreast, keeping younger riders, young horses, nervous horses etc on the inside of me. if mine is being particularly spooky a friend does the same

I am no bigger than a car riding side by side, I would rather they slowed right down and passed safely than not get passed at all because I'm on there bonnet..

Not having a dig just expressing my thoughts :D

It was on tv at something like 1.30am. ! If I made one it would show a picture of a real accident with permission of course, and then give instructions accompanied with video footage of how to pass horses. Not just have a horse acting up, I think it gives the impression that unless the horse bounces around it's alright with the car.

I think it's a rubbish video - it just won't appeal to every day car drivers as unfortunately it just looks like the riders were just hogging the road and making it difficult for the car to pass safely.

I've always thought something like an Aardman animation or similar would work quite well because they could show for example plastic bag in the hedge turn into a lion and then back to a bag showing how horses react to things because they see it as a threat that a non-horse rider wouldn't really understand. Or zebra crossing turn into a raging torrent or a leaf into a tiger or a bin bag into a grizzly bear (or is that just my horse? :D ) It's spooking out in front of a fast moving car or a car that is travelling too fast and just doesn't see a rider in time that causes most accidents.

I agree with riding two side by side but in that video the upset horse was on the outside they didn't make an effort to get out of the way. I'm in no way saying the driver was right (he clearly isn't) but it doesn't look like the riders were doing themselves any favours.

Just re-watched the video and he is beeping his horn, no wonder the horse is upset. Still don't think its a great video.

I agree as that's the point I was trying to make.

Wow, very powerful video but as others have said, personally if I am riding with someone else, I would have gone single file. Also I know it is not BHS but if I am riding on the narrow lanes, I move out into the middle of the road around a corner so that the driver has more of a chance to see you

This should certainly be on TV! At least it's a guide for the "naive" drivers, but some drivers are just arrogant and nothing under the sun will make a difference to their actions.
In all fairness some of us riders do ourselves no favors by not moving into single file, or deliberately winding the arrogant drivers up by taking up position center of the road on out bombproofers :P
