Just when I thought we were nearly there
frown.gif

After 15 weeks box rest which included 6 weeks cross tying after fracturing his radius my boy was finally allowed in the field and is sane and happy again. Vet said I can start to ride him but last week the large chip of bone that weve debated taking out absessed and 'popped'. Its closed up again but has popped again today. Today vet says we should xray again and if the bone is the same as it was at last xray it is to come out, so more box rest. Its right near his carpal sheath and theres a risk of infection if we take it out but if its left in theres a risk of a bone infection in his radius.
Im to make an appointment tomorrow for asap so please keep your fingers crossed for him that its making its way to the surface or shrinking because if it is my vet says he will leave it and monitor it.

I'm sure everyone was sad to read this ,just when you think you are winning.

My thoughts are with you and fingers crossed..
Please keep us informed sometimes even posting on here lightens the load

C'mon Louby, try and think positive - will the bone chip come out by itself? He's come so far, I can't really think he's not going to get through this eventually. Just hang in there. The support of the HHO'ers is behind you and I send along a shedload of positive vibes for his speedy return to full health.

Oh god what a bummer

have got everything crossed for you and sending lots of good vibes your way. Can't believe it's been 15 weeks though.

Awww thanks everyone, I feel like Im moaning all the time but sharing your problem on here really does help. You have all cheered me up throughout Jays recovery.
Vet said he doesnt think the chip will come out on its own as it is quite big but he was hoping it wouldnt cause any problems so it could be left in because of its position. I wouldnt be feeling so negative if it was a straight forward proceedure and its been the worse year ever both horse and family wise so Im a bit 'delicate' at the moment and keep thinking when are things going to start going right.
Thanks for being there for us.
