The countryside pure and simple!

Today after work (read 7:45pm!) me and housemate went for a hack on the girls. Now this is itself is huge acheivement. Fleur NEVER used to hack (went vertical 9 times in 5 mins once!) but has finally started growing up and actually takes the lead!!!

Well we went out for a good hour and just soaked up the views. Yard is in a valley but we hacked up to the top and you could see for miles and miles in several directions. We could even just catch glimpse of the sea!

But yes the quietness and stillness of the country in addition to the breath taking views I could never give up, especially when you can explore it on horseback

country. did 3hrs on sat inc pub and a pint (well, not quite a pint but it looked good in the sentence!) and on sunday 1.5hr. we back onto a huge park area and we leave the yard backing onto fields and within an hour only had to see one car coming up their private road from the park, how incredible is that? cant stop the hot air balloons, posh peoples helicopters and llamas in parks but hey, it makes for interesting viewing. we had 4 canters in the pine forest before hitting daylight

i got goosebumps! enjoy and appreciate what you have and i think we, on here, all try and do that...even on a bad day.

Saturday afternoon we hacked down to te chew valley whic is outstandingly beautiful. Rode up a little used track, which for about a quarter of a mile means following a large stream, by wading in it. The trees & brambles are quite overgrown & form a tunnel, and you have to lay on the horses necks, they are up to their knees in water & you can see the fish & water voles etc. swimmin away up river. Then you have about a mile of track to canter along before you get to a local woods which we cantered around, lost for an hour till we found our way out. Took us 2.5 hrs and we were shattered, but it made me feel very sorry for people who can't hack, or who can only hack on busy roads.... (for Spans & Picallili - we went to Woollard & up to Lords Wood!)

I can cross one main road then straight up on the pennine moors sun shining birds tweeting smell of the hawthorn, cant beat it

You are so right santa..
We took the beasties to newcastle beach last week, had a lovely canter and splash, saw loads of seals on the opposite bank of Dundrum bay, and when we turned for home the mournes were just in front of us.
Hard to explain the happy feeling I had, but I wouldn't swop it for a posh apartment in the city and lots of fancy clothes anyway.

lucky digger, i used to be able to get staight onto the pennines from my yard, now ive moved durham countryside seems so tame and managed

see I don't even have to step foot near a main road, on a minor country lane with hours of hacking which you can keep going for hours! Yesterday was an busy day traffic wise we met 2 cars and a tractor! normally you get nothing

We were saying though could you imagine if you have never seen the countryside? There are so many people and kids in the large cities who have never seen a field or a wood or even the sea other than in photographs never mind a cow/sheep/pig/horse!

did ust that last week, from the south downs way i had lovely views over the downs and the sea, on a clear day i can see the isle of wight, i couldn't live in a city either, i used to do a delivery round in london and i pity anyone who lives there YUK!!

I went for a quick hack round Tweseldown Racecourse today and pretended that we were a racehorse!!! It was an illicit hack though, and only on the outskirts!!!!

But still fun. Takes 5 mins to hack there, so although not quite the middle of the countryside, its still nice!!
