Apologies for what is probably a stupid question, I have been watching the European Championships and the breeding shown for the horses is the Sire x Dam sire. Is this normal and why is the Dam not shown? Is it felt that the stallion qualities are the only ones that matter

Thats how its done in Europe and part of the reason is because the stallion can have many offspring each year whereas unless ET is used a mare will only have one and therefore have less effect on future bloodlines. some damlines are strong and do produce good horses but thats what you would be asking about or looking up if you were buying
