The shire x I share is out in his own electric fenced paddock which is right by the road. The gateway to it is by the road also.

Anyway everytime I get him out of field he squeals and shoots forwards when he's walking over the bit were electric fence would be. The fencing is turned off and I do this as soon as I arrive at yard so it's been off prob 10mins before I get him in.

He has to walk through two more electric fence gateways and he doesn't do it and he never does it on way out?!?

Does he think he's going to get zapped or is it just high spirits??

Not bothered by it really, just curious xx

Either he was zapped there before and his behaviour is by association ie Gap=zapped

Or you have the electric fencing (or maybe another or old wire) earthing around where the gap is

I have a tbx that can feel an earthed wire a couple of hundred yards off - makes for exciting riding!

Get an electric fence tester and check the area for unseen wires etc
