I am looking for a second hand leather saddle for my boy, and do you think my local saddlery has one? Noooo!! Maybe its cos he is an odd size, but I remember the day lol when you could go in to a saddler and theyd have plenty of saddles to choose from...

Is this because more people are having theirs re-stuffed etc and keeping them do you think?

Rant over!

Is Huw Thomas the local one that you have tried? He's fab, if you've not tried him I definitely would. He came over 2 hours to our yard and fitted 10 horses over the course of a whole day and sold a few saddles. He was absolutely spot on and I can't rate him enough. Mr D was a very awkward fit and he did take about 6 weeks to find us something suitable but then I had the smallest budget in the world and Darce was very awkward to fit. He took lots of saddle with him to us and had some that fitted that were just beyond my limit.
He's from Bridgend.

Im in South Wales.
I am looking for a GP 18" medium-wide fit. Really he needs to be fitted again as he was measured back in fat last summer!

Yeah it was Huw I rang Law, he said he has nothing at the moment

I am going to try snaffles in llandow next as they came out to fit him in the first place...Im lst atm because his 18" wide fit saddle is really pressing on his back now and Im having to lunge or ride bareback...

Plastic saddles are taking over... There the same price new as a second hand leather...My saddler won't take them any more as says theres no market for them. What you looking for? If you want brown, forget it....Theres a world shortage....

i feel sure i have a 18" brown medium/wide fit saddle under my stairs with some of my other unused horse stuff! if your interested pm me and i'll dig it out.
when looking for one last yr for one of my other horses - found the same - tack shops no longer seem to have decent 2nd hand saddles - and those they do have seem very overpriced compared to a few yrs back!
