well i wouldnt even call it wind 2nite, was more like a breeze! she walked in like a spoon! gorping at everything! Tacked her up and got on her. Asked her to walked on and she humped her back and the tail started going! Never done that before! que a quick dismount from me before i ended up in a heap, stuck her on the lunge and she went NUTS! nackered her out and got back on her! did you know there are wind monsters in the hedge?? She was huffing and puffing by now after being a complete welly on the lunge so she settled fairly quickly and worked well! i even got more than 1 stride of canter out of her! not a good start seeing as her first show is on saturday!!

Hearing is much more sensitive than ours, it is part of their survival mechanism, they can hear a mouse in a haystack, my boy always gets up from his morning sleep when he hears my car come in to the yard, he can pick it out from all the other traffic, he is fine with deer, pheasants and sheep, but does not like dogs rumbling in the undergrowth or herds of cattle which always seem to be attracted to him, gallop in a herd towards him, and pop their heads over hedges at inappropriate moments. I followed him up to his new home recently, he in a trailer and me behind him, he kept turning his head round to look at me even though it he was on a reasonably tight rope, and was more comfortable facing forward.
I never try anything adventurous with a very young horse when it is windy

I couldn't ride in wind either as he was far too on his toes for it, being a complete dingbat, and that would also mean he could buck for the sake of bucking (and they weren't tiny either) so I would lunge him... and he would still be a total dingbat have a funny five mins and settle down and listen more....

We have a mare who was walloped in the head by a fallin tree trunk in her field, and because it was dark and windy she's an absolute crazy lady in the wind and/or dark ever since bless her!!

And yeah- it's usually because they can't hear the wolves as well in the wind :):)

My mare is a pain in the wind. She's not too bad on a hack she knows but take her in the school where there is a line of big rustling trees down the long side and you've had it.

Well il let her off for being a goon today as its blowing a gale today! Bins and buckets are going everywhere, il just lunge her today i think ;-)

I don't even bother with most of the horses when it's windy. In fact there are only two out of the seven of them who will be ridden today.
