ive been advertising locally and by word of mouth for someone to hack out with me on my cob a few mornings a week so the new pony has company. i have advertised ever since i knew i was getting a new one so i had it all sorted so we could start straight away but ive had nothing! normally, its never a problem but everyones too busy, or thinks my cobs boring!! a friend of mine actually said, i would ride him for you but hes a bit boring and doesnt do much. ?!?!?!?!? argh. thats why hes perfect to hack out with a youngster! why does nobody want a safe hack anymore??

Sorry you are having trouble.
Its good to have a moan!

Are you advertising in the right places?
Sounds like he would be perfect for a mum or older person that is experienced but wants to take things steadier now and free during the day.

I take it boring means he is well behaved....

I was thinking of going down this route and decided not to as it just seems like too much hassle. My young 'uns going to learn to hack out by herself and if any riders are available, then I'll tag along with them and their horse.

Hope you find someone to ride out with. x

Is there a local riding school where you could put an ad up? Someone there may really appreciate the chance for nice hacks on a well mannered horse.

Sounds perfect to me! This was exactly the sort of hourse (and arrangment) I was looking for for ages. Because I couldn't find it I ended up buying my own 'boring' cob...

If you were in my area and had posted this a year ago I would have been there like a shot. I am not alone as so many people have said it is what they are looking for.

What area are you? And where have you advertised?

If it was me (not saying you haven't already) i would be advertising at local tack shops/feed merchants, local equestrian centres notice boards & possibly even your local riding school, do you have friends at other livery yards who could spread the word for you? My farrier has adverts in his van as well, surely theres someone out there who would want a nice safe hack :)

thanks for replys. got an ad up in local riding school and in a few local tack shops. but if im honest, normally i find someone through word of mouth. ive tried a few people at our yard to see if they would ride him but they are always busy and id rather have set days so i know if you know what i mean. and yes, hes boring. he does what you ask. hes not a plod, if you want to go, he will. but its because he looks boring and because nothing at all bothers him. hes hacked around all of the routes for 10 years, he knows the game bless him. hes a good horse. i cant ride him and lead the pony forever.

People in tack shops to to be shopping for their horses. Try pet shops or even supermarket notice board for horsey mum's without horses who could do mornings. Also preloved.

Whereabouts are you? My sister would give her right arm to be able to hack out regularly on a safe horse. She can't afford to pay to ride because she pays for her son's lessons.

I'm sure someone on here would either be up for it themselves or know someone who might be.

im in bedfordshire. aparently no one in beds wants some free rides. never mind. i would ride with other people on the yard but 3 are all retired, the other 2 are nut jobs and the other 2 are never hacked out. so im kind of stuck. i can hack out every other weekend with mum on my coblet but she works at a school and i work everyother weekend and thats not enough at all.
