Why is it so hard to be fair to your horses??

Sitting here in floods of tears after having peopleon the phone about my mare and really not bothered by their questions but everything is in the advert I put out :(

Ive been honest about her injury, honest about her weaving and needing to be travelled either in a lorry or trailer with no partition but people still call up and ask these things thinking I'll tell them summat different :(

Its hard enough that I have had to come to this hard decision to find homes for them but my older horse @ 21 has a wonderful new home but my 14yrs old talented mare I cant get one for?? How strange is that???

Gutted.com Anyone any words of wisdom??? And yes I am just having a moan :( Christ if anyone ust WANTED her without all her stuff they could have her as long as she was geting a good home :(

I'd take it as a compliment Black Beastie! Perhaps the inquirers really loved the look of your mare and simply wanted to know some more about her - what sound like quite minor - problems. It must be frustrating though, I understand that.

Chin up! :o If it's meant to be, it's meant to be. I'm sure you'll find a loving home for her soon enough!

It doesn't matter how much detail you put in your advert - people will want to have a conversation about what you've written.

I would.

Im sorry youre having a hard time of it :(

Tbh the injuries would put me off your mare, lovely though she is, and might be putting other people off too possibly :(

I agree with AM, people will just want to talk to you about the ad, hpwever much you pu in it. Keep going theres someone else out there for her :)

I would.

They are not all trying to catch you out just clarifying what is in the ad.
You should see some of the emails I receive when selling they can be so detailed that it is like writing an essay just answering what should be simple questions.
I like to talk to potential purchasers, it helps to establish a rapport and you can, if you get the right call, be more confident that the person coming really cares about the horse they will be buying.
There is nothing worse than someone phoning with no questions that just tries to arrange a viewing, they are often the real timewasters that have no idea.

People will phone up for a chat and probably want more details which is fair enough but if people ringing up asking about the weaving and then saying "I don't want a weaver' - that would wind me up.

It is extremely hard to sell a horse when you don't want to, keep going though the right person just hasn't seen your ad yet.

Can you give us a clue as to where your ad is then we can check out the wording

selling horses is always a nightmare:( i put 'not novice ride' in one ad and if Id had another call from someone wanting a first horse for their wonderfully talented 12 year old who can w/t/c at a RS so therefore is not a novice, I seriously would have screamed! I even had one girl phone me up and ask me "is he schooled?" Eh ?? This was a schoolmaster competition horse, with every Tshirt, who's winnings and experience were all in the ad. "is he schooled?" wtf:confused::o I was so nonplussed I couldnt answer and the girl went to ask if he could go round in a circles in a school or not? Sorry, pony is not for you:o:( Chin up, the right person will come forward!

Chatting I dont mind TBF Ill talk the hind legs off a donkey but its as someone said before I put in the ad about her stuff and then Iget asked about it then they say nah shes not for me dont want a vice etc and I want to hang up on them!!

Shes perfectly sound and once I have her fit I will be returning her to jumping etc as vet has said she can do all these things like she did before :)

But if you dont want a weaver and you can only share a trailer with another person and the add clearly states that the horse does/needs the above then why waste your time :)

Shes a fabulous wee horse and I bloody hating having to do this :(

On the plus side - selling horses at the moment is nigh on impossible and I know people trying to sell who haven't had one enquiry. At least you're getting enquiries. The right person will be out there, but make sure you put as many good points and don't focus just on the bad points. Good luck.

Thanks Holly Hocks.

Bet if I wasnt being so honest I wouldnt be having this problem but its not in my nature not to tell the truth about her leg etc.

I can see why people do lie thought :(
