I hope its not just me, but I always look at horses for sale, even though I know I am not allowed a horse of my own till I am slightly older

I always find myself 'oohing and aahing' at the 'perfect horse for me'. Searching the internet for a horse that Im not going to have! Please tell me im not the only one

Oh youre not alone. I am always looking at horses for sale, drawing up budgets...leaving open horse and hounds with marked ads around...

i dont have one and have ridden since I was 2, and I am now 22yo!!!!
However my graduation present is going to be a horse (apparently..... we shall see!) so I just like to keep my eyes open for "potentials" even though i have another year and a few months left!!!!!!!!

Argh! O well at least my vet bills will be cheaper then!

I love looking at Horsemart to see what horses are available and I just got a new horse a few months ago! It's just fun to see what's out there and I like to look at think "Oh, this horse would be perfect for <whoever>".

You are most definitely not alone! If, instead of ogling wistfully at the horse ads, I'd been looking at the jobs section instead, I could have had my own horse years ago.

Even now I'm loaning a gorgeous pony, I still spend hours searching through the ads just in case there is some miraculously perfect horse that happens to be free to a good home!

Hrm maybe i should ask for one for my graduation then.

I don't look as much now, after seeing the pony i brought on and did lots of work on for 3 years at a riding school, then he was sold on for a year. I saw him whilst browsing and got in a bit of a state. Parents and OH said they would help me get him and pay to keep him til i had finished uni and then when i went to talk to his owner he had been sold just the day before so i was heart broken. If i don't look til i can afford, i won't get in that situation again... Of course i do have to look at ones people point out on here though

I do that all the time! Its just window shopping, we're all guilty of it in some respect. I don't just do it with horses, I also always go and check out the designer bags I can't afford!

I'm always looking at horses for sale. And equestrian property for sale. Well you have to have a dream don't you...

Also guilty of this....OH says I spend far too much time cruising websites looking at appaloosa horses for sale, even though i already have one....So please don;t worry about it, it's horsey folk therapy I reckon. And it helps us to learn about prices etc for when we DO want to buy one!

I don't. Hate it. But then I hate shopping in general and particulary hate horsey shopping. Infact I am currently in the market for a new horse. Something around 15 - 16hh pref. mare, Shropshire area, to hack about with mainly, very limited budget so feel free to look on my behalf!

Funny you say that because Ive been looking at them, I think there absolutely gorgeous! You must show us some pics some time

Nope not really. Not as confident as I used to be thanks to a lovely grey mare I had, so no buckers as I just tend to panic now. Must hack alone. Other than that fill your boots!

I'm always looking.

I'm 25 and have never owned a horse.
I would love to as would OH. I have this image that when we get married (not if...when lol!!) that our present to each other will be a horse to share between us.

Always looking!

Oh I spent all yesterday doing this, despite being nowhere near remotely able to afford the running costs of another one, found 2 or 3 that really caught my eye (I'm fussier now than I used to be, before it would be finding 10 or 20 that caught my eye, lol) but made myself not call up about them.

I used to do this when i had a horse. Always saw someting i liked but was never in a position to get another.
My mare was put down last may and i started looking for another just before xmas, i hate horse shopping now i can actually do it.

Dont know why, just find it hard and if i do like one its too expensive or something. Its just not as much fun as i thought it would be, far to stressful.

I completely agree Vam. I detest it. Really I am just lazy, hours spent trawling the net is not my idea of fun. I was the same when I was looking for a new car a few weeks ago. I just cant get excited about it.

Ive desided to go to a dealer (with a very good reputaion) and see what he can do. If he hasnt got something that suits i will leave the horse hunting to him.

I know when i do get one i'll go back to looking and enjoying it.
I have got a weakness for looking at horseboxes at the mo, again for the same reason. I cant have one so i like looking, when i start looking for one i'll hate it.
