I did used to like people at my yard...honest...

But since getting new horse certain old hags have been driving me bonkers with their stupid little opinions....I posted this a while back: http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/sh...rue#Post4524834

At the weekend I am told (by one of the other liveries) he's been chewing the school fence (our school is next to our field, with just a p&r fence in between)....I've NEVER seen him chewing anything, and having inspected the fence there is no sign of it being chewed AT ALL (oh and one of the other horses in our field is a wind sucker, but our YO is not actually worried about it at all).....and then yesterday I get down the yard and am told he's apparantly trotted alongside the school fence when someone was riding in there....down the long side...once....I'm like oh right thats nice (thinking why are you telling me this?)!

So YO (he's a farmer and not too horsey, but tends to take things as gospel that he's told by certain liveries) comes up to me later and says he's been told by X and X he's been acting riggy!!! To which I was like oh right, thats the most ridiculous thing I've heard, next they will be saying he's sprouted wings or a unicorn horn or something....I said you do realise its probably because he apparantly trotted alongside the school earlier? YO took on board what I said, but bloody hell, what is some people's problem!?!?

I totally get this is probably a jealousy thing (which I dont get tbh but maybe thats just me!), but they are really starting to annoy me now. I'm keeping eyes open for another yard, but nothing around.....Gah!!! sorry just needed to let off a little steam!!!

people are weird - it's annoying but true, and being horsey adds a whole new dimension to wierdness,
be calm stay calm and let it pass over you head - it's not worth the effort worrying about....

God you should be at my yard... Petty is taken to the extreme!! Ive come to the conclusion that everyone must be seriously miserable to be so uptight the whole time! It is pretty horrible though when people are nasty behind your back and being horrible about your horse when they're only doing what horses do! Unfortunatly I know how you feel!

AGH! How annoying, I'm lucky enough not to be at livery anymore but have been told many things about my horses, apparently my mare once jumped a 6ft gate into another field! Very impressive! Actually that was in Kent..wonder if it's the same place! You just have to look on the funny side of it sometimes, what will they come up with next?!! So what if he trotted next to the school, it's good practice for the show ring for people to ride with other horses around!

Sorry you're having to put up with this but try to ignore them. Like you I get on with most of the people I've been on yards with but have had problems with some who have no other life than their horses.
I find that some people like that tend to make a big deal over normal horsey behaviour (like trotting long the fence) if it has even a tiny inpact upon them. It becomes a huge deal to them as they've got nothing else to worry about. If your boy was attacking their horses while they were in the school then it's fair enough make a fuss; maybe you should tell them that horses need to learn to work whilst there are distractions about so your boy is just doing his bit to help!
Feel sorry for them as they must have very sad & empty lives.

People constantly tell me things about Monty.

He IS a stressy fellow and sometimes weaves (even in 20 acre field) or spends five minutes pacing. It never lasts though and at 28 years old I don't think he will ever stop. People love sending me arsey texts about it.

People also tell me that he has been 'standing by the gate' when they are getting their horse out.....not barging or being aggressive etc......standing.

DUN DUN DAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!

People seriously have too much time on their hands.

Karenjj, yard is actually in lingfield surrey, i'm just over the border in kent...

But yep I do wonder what they will come up with next....to be honest the last horses that were in our field were always moaned about at they apparantly used to charge at the fence when you were riding in there (I never witnessed that one myself, perhaps I'm blind).

I had one like that, every morning instead of a hello I would get your horse has been making faces at mine, your horse has kicked the wall etc. Drove me mad and two faced, you just don't know the half of it. Nothing better to do, laced with jealousy I think.

I think that, its just my turn right now.....they have always moaned about someone or someones horse, its just never been mine up until now. I guess I am giving some other poor soul a break!!!

you will get the same where ever you go im afraid. I have experienced this myself many times. Down my yard at the moment I have a real fruit loop of a young girl who really needs help. I just go along my business like she is not there (as hard as it is). I think these people are jealous half the time. You obviously have a stunning horse. Why dont these people just P*** right off and mind there own business. They should not keep on distressing you. If horses are grazing the other side of a manage the chances are they may at some point run along the fence ??????? when a horse is being ridden.

Charge at them with a pitch fork

. stay strong!

... I got greeted the other day with "your horse is just so sweet... he follows people around the field when they are poo picking" ... thought it was a compliment ... should I have read something into it???

Honestly though, I do feel sorry for you. All we want is a bit of peace and quiet with our neds ... and sometimes people just won't let us!

I really feel for you, they are annoying and no doubt jealous of you stunning horse. Given time it will be another poor persons turn....... Ignore them, stay calm and enjoy your horse.

Plus I forgot to say that horses will be horses & they can get up to all sorts of things, whether its chewing a fence or going for another horse or following people out in a field etc. These horse owners should know this, so why cause trouble over it.
