Do antis come on here shouting the odds, when its clearly called HORSE AND HOUND therefore incinuating that it is primarily directed at supporting hunting?

Does it not suggest that perhaps they will find the vast majority of people strongly disagreeing with them, and sticking to their guns and that infact their close minded opinion may not be met with open arms?

Agreed!

I usually read & sometimes post in this section during the season - primarily to share info & tips.
However, the 'hunting' forum has been somewhat ruined recently. From what I can see very needlessly as people generally aren't interested!

Shame the season's coming to an end - roll on next year!

well it just really frustrates me, as im really looking forward to next season as im hoping my boy will be fit enough to go for what will be my first time hunting and as far as im aware so is his ( i am planning to go at least once on a hireling so i know the ground ) so i quite often look on here for some advice, things others are saying and to see what hunts meet when.

and all i ever see recently is antis complaining in an environment for people to share experiences etc pro hunting

Fantastic!

Glad you'll be joining the hunting community next year. You'll have a super time. Personally I wouldn't bother with a hireling as I'd always go on my own horse. I guess it depends on how long you've had your horse & your experience etc. That's just my personal view.

I would go at the start of the season 'cubbing' as these a=earlier meets tend to be quieter & slower. Perfectly designed for the novice horse / rider. They tend to be around Sept / Oct time & are often cheaper!

Shame you're Cambridge & not closer!

You may find someone to link up with through this forum.
To be honest it's not a major problem as I've always find someone to ride with. I tend to stay towards the back of the field - less carnage!! There are many sensible people towards the back, some not wanting to jump etc. I just link up with them out hunting & we stay as a small group at the back.

If you are the only one riding, it may be a good idea to bring a friend / other half in the lorry. It's great to have some help with the tacking up / washing down at the end. Also, someone else there 'just in case' to drive the lorry home if anything were to happen.

he is a gorgeous boy and Berks and Bucks may be doable for a few occasions, if it suits and you would be up for taking a novice round? also, just wondering what fitness level does he need to be at ideally?

Yes, no problem!
My suggestion would be the 'pre-season' hunting. As it's slower & cheaper. You can then see if youlike it & how your horse is.
Fitness wise - I guess the best analogy for these early season meets would be similar to if you were competing / XC with your horse. Plenty of basic roadwork for 'hardening' of the legs, then some hill work & lastly the canterwork. You will need a reasonable level of fitness. To me the most important part is the roadwork to make sure the legs are tough.
These early meets are about 1 1/2 hours long.

Had you have NOT started your thread in the above manner you could have posted and had a nice discussion without any so called "anti's", being in the slightest bit bothered!

Sadly you chose to open a thread with an attack on other forum members. The hunting section is a hunting forum. No where does it state that it is a 'pro hunting', forum. It is open to us all to discuss hunting in its various forms. if you are clearly talking about hunting as a legal activity then no antis will bother you, will they?!

Again, sadly, you chose to pick a fight and look for 'Pro Allies', with your opening post rather than post about your enjoyment of hunting. Fortunately you found someone to eventually get on to your chosen topic with.

Maybe in future YOU should not come on here shouting the odds because it is NOT YOUR forum.

This is the home of Equestrianism and many do not agree with foxhunting as it was pre-ban. Please respect this in future and respect the rights of others to offer opinion without fear of criticism from you for doing so queen! x

I'm anti and I come on here to annoy some of the pros. I work strange hours and when I'm checking emails and doing boring things like paying bills online I also post a comment or two on here exposing the few weirdo "hunters" in this forum for the preposterous loonies that they are.

In my opinion you can categorise hunters in the following way:

1. Normal, decent people who love horses and/or hounds, as well as the company provided by hunting. I think most pros on this site fall into this group.

2. Much more committed hunters who take an active part in promoting hunting. I suppose Janet George would be a good example. Not everyone's cup of tea, but passionate about hunting and very knowledgeable about horses.

3. Not very nice hunters who adopt an aggressive, sarcastic tone on sites like this. They may be OK people in real life but they come across as humourless and unattractive chappies here. They boast about their brilliant military record, their travels around the world and speaking Danish, that sort of thing.

4. Loony fanatical campaigners for hunting, their looniness consisting in the fact that they don't hunt, even by their own admission.

5. Not very nice, sadistic animal abusers. They organise dog fights and think there's a direct correlation between the number of scars their terriers carry and the size of their dick. They occupy the underground (often literally) of the hunting world. I would like to think even most terriermen would despise them.
