Did the feeds tonight, and dished them out as per usual.
My 4 yr old had eaten half her feed when she walked away from the bucket. Had a look at her 5 mins later to find huge amounts of feed and fluid pouring out her nose. Vet called, poor girl has been sedated and tubed to relieve a blockage just before the stomach. The stuff was so thick (despite the amount of water being pumped in to water it down) it kept blocking the tube.
A lot of head scratching later, we had worked it out. The feed bins were moved about today whilst tidying up. I had wrongly given Sass Calm and Condition instead of Fast Fibre. One requires a 60 second soak. The other a 10 minute soak. I had fed C&C with just a 60 second soak:(
Lesson learnt. They might LOOK the same but they are so NOT the same when it comes to preparation!

Sorry to hear this! Glad your girl ok and you managed to find out what it was. Just and idea label your feed bins i do and it brilliant, as then if i need someone to feed for me all names on bins!! x

I am paranoid about doing something like this - it is too easy. Lucky that these kind of things only take a small amount of time to soak up these days. Hope your horse recovers quickly and without lasting effect. I used to have a gelding that suffered from choke when fed horse & pony cubes - I won't feed them to this day after seeing him suffer the way he did, (he is no longer with us, bless him, but had a good long life - cube free).
