Just wondering if anyone could advise me as to why my Mum's horse won't sell? He has been on the market for about 4 months with no luck at all. He is a 15'2hh Andalusian Gelding. Iron Grey. 6 years old. Good schooling, basic lateral work and flying changes and jumping 1.10m - won his first show ever at that height and won the championship!! She wants £3000 inc tack but would accept an offer. He is such a cuddly horse in the stable and is ridden most of the time by a 13 year old girl. Only downside.... he is in Spain! But noone seems to want to buy all rounders over there - in fact they don't like geldings full stop! What should she do?? He is costing her a fortune on full livery and she needs to sell him as she hasn't the time to ride anymore.

I'd personally advertise him for 5k in the UK, not including shipping - he sounds lovely!

Someone over here would pay stupid money for him

i think she should advertise him over here, he sounds like a nice horse indeed, but the country he is in (as already stated) is full of Andalusians
i am sure someone from the uk would be happy to buy him and move him
either that or sadly i suppose you would have to lower the price to sell to someone local, which would be a shame as he sounds good value indeed, though i am not sure the going rate over there, it may be less for what we would pay in the uk

I think I might speak to her tomorrow then and get her to put her advert up on Horsemart and see where she gets - it does sound like a better idea. Don't think that she could afford the extra expenditure of shipping him over here herself tho especially with Christmas coming up.... maybe she should just advertise with a video of him?

What about trying to do a deal with the dealers over here who match Spanish horses with British clients? You know, like SpanishHorseQuest or whatever it's called. They could advertise him and arrange viewings over in Spain and get a cut of the sale as commisson.

I hope she finds him a lovely home, he sounds brilliant - pity he's not a hand bigger though!

Me ! want him! I would imagine that it is because he is in Spain. Coals to Newcastle and all that + he is a gelding and I am on the understanding that geldings in Spain are few & far between. How much would it cost to ship him over here?
