Why wouldn't you?

I have just had the vet out to do the teeth on the pony I recently bought as he was not putting on weight. She was horrified. Apparently they are the worst she has ever seen, and she is a well experianced vet! He is twenty plus but she doesn't feel his teeth have ever been rasped!!
Why wouldn't anyone do them? I don't rush for the chiropractor etc at the drop of a hat but this is essential care, just like feet. (which were awful too when he arrived) Poor little guy! He also cribbed badly too and has done for some time as he has lost a front one, I put him on Dengie Digestive Health Plus and three weeks on he has stopped completely!

So now at least he has had the rough edges removed so should feel a bit happier, but the rest of it is going to need a dentist with power tools. I just feel so sorry for him!

I know how you feel! I got my mare last year (13) and my dentist said the same
She had to have a big job with electric tools, but now shes fine

I have no idea....it's horrible, we resucued a Welsh A this summer, who is 27 now, he came all skinny and looked half dead....i knew the pony when i was a kid.

When we picked it up they said he's on all this food it's just his age making him look skinny...(they were still using him in the riding school) why if you know he looks bad.

I got him home gave him a handful of food they said they were giving him. it went everywhere, so vet out check all over and got his teeth done. They hadn't been done in years.....now all sorted, he doesn't have front teeth so can live on long green grass as it doesn't cause him any issues.
He now has grass and soaked down Feed and Fibre and is looking really well, just looks like a little fluffy ageing pony of about 20. amazing what real care does.

Kes about 4 weeks after we had him, slim still but nothing like he was when we got him.

Now just a fat happy old pony like he should be. Many years left in him.
