Why

Well if you had watched the way that these people foal down then you might understand. Absolutely atrocious handling goes on - so it's no wonder that the mare/foal bonding is placed in jeopardy.
 
There's a very long post further down in Lounge - posted by Seaofdreams. If you read it then you will get an idea of what appalling behaviour went on with the foal born last night.

I must admit -I am not impressed by this 'yard' - they prove the theory that you must let things happen as naturally as possible - the more interference, the higher the liklyhood of problems!
Poor mare and foal - I hope they learn from their mistakes.
 
it's very sad isn't it and i completly agree with you Tia, i was watching her for a while last night and the poor mare was very unsure,
I belive the mare is only a youngster herself and this is could even be her first foal,
I do not think they were wrong in helping her get his leg straight but after that i was horrified,

I meant the owners, not the mare and foal!!
