Why was an adjurnment granted - on what grounds????

Thanks for the update - was curious as to what happened.

Dont know at the minute cant say i`m suprised he prob thought he`d face a baying crowd or hoping people will have forgotten by Feb 4

As someone stated on the bucks free press website, why he is telling people what to do and dictating what happens. Sorry, but there seems to be one law for normal people and another law for travellers. They seem to get away with everything and it makes me sick. I have no faith in the British Justice system at all and am terrified he will not get a punishment which fits the crime.
 
Is he still free to own, buy/sell and deal in horses? Because he hasn't actually been charged with anything to do with animal cruelty yet has he?

EXACTLY what i was just thinking. how the hell is that right???

He may be seriously ill or something (anyone would be pretty stressed in his position because of all the negative feeling and we don't know yet why what happened did). In these circumstances a court could agree to defer. He will still have to go in front of them in due course. The deferment is potentially good news for any campaign we run because the story will be reported again in February by which time our petition will be signed by lots and lots of caring people and will therefore get more airtime.

He does need a fair trial so that any conviction is a safe conviction and unable to be over turned. It would be awful if he was convicted but somehow got off because of anything that horse lovers had done to prejudice his trial. It is also not yet clear whether he is going to be prosecuted for animal welfare issues as well as assaulting a police officer. This will all come out in time.

My one concern with this barsteward is that he somehow gets away with it by pleading that it would be impossible to have a fair trial because of the publicity surrounding the case. Hope he rots in hell after a slow, long and agonising death caused by starvation and dehydration...
 
I think it will take some time for the cruelty case to actually get to court so by that time hopefully he'll think it's all been forgotten about & then we can all pounce again with a public outcry.

No photo's of him yet? I'd like to stick a picture of his face everywhere - warning people never to deal with him. Sales - especially.
 
This case will be for the criminal matters brought by the CPS against him, not ythe animal welfare. I doubt whtehr the RSPCA wil have even finished collating the evidence needed yet. TBH the first appearance only confirms the charges so wont make a lot of difference.
 
Great, bring it on, he's just turned himself into one of the most wanted men in the UK soon as the court issues a warrant!

I'd like to make a suggestion to those of us on here who are Police officers or have one in the family that everybody makes themselves very familiar with what he looks like, what vehicles he uses and who he associates with, then it's just a matter of time....
