wide web shoes with heel support/any farriers out there

Can wide web shoes make that much difference to horses comfort.My tb has been lame for months and looked as if he was getting much worse,I was going to give him to end of summer as Im very concerned about his long term care and comfort.He had gelpads and eggbars which didnt help and gave him soft frogs , went back to traditional shoes on farriers recommendation and he went into decline so much so i dont ride him at all.
In desperation I tried new farrier and within two days he seems much more comfortable.He trotted up for his feed this evening and wasnt hopping lame,plus he has stopped tripping in walk as well.He has soft tissue injury in coffin joint so could be long term injury ,diagnosis and treatment goes back to nov.
Do you think the shoes could make so much difference so quickly or am I kidding myself.

As far as I know "TheFarrier" is good at things like this, try giving him a PM?

The wider section will give the horse more support but probably not any more than the pads were doing, perhaps it is more something in the style of shoeing that is making the difference.

Barefoot is also an option, and a shoe i use quite frequently is the easywalker. it mimics the barefoot hoof (giving flexion and natural movement) while giving much needed support (it is a bar shoe) and being plastic absorbs all concussion, normally making for a sounder happier horse

With all new shoeings you need to give it time to really see if the technique/type of shoe is working for you and your horse. I would suggest giving these shoes two or three rounds of shoeing and you should have your answer.

Thanks for info.The new farrier did give me option of the plastic shoes we decided to try these first and monitor.We both feel barefoot is probably not option at the moment.He might not ever come sound as his soft tissue injury had been missed for long time because of other complications and lameness issues.No one would listen to me had to insist on another opinion.Time will tell at least his feet look good even though his legs dont work bless him hes only 8.
