Hello HHO!

I have looked through the archive and have managed to confuse myself further... Also; yes I will be speaking to a saddle fitter in due course, I just want a bit of a 'fag packet' answer now. (because I am impatient!)

I am looking to change my current Isabelle Werth Wintec dressage saddle (with a black (medium) gullet) and I am looking at an Albion Style dressage saddle. Would I be looking for a narrow-medium, medium or a medium-wide fitting?

Some people say that albions are wider, some people say they are smaller, some people say they are true to size- hence the confusion!

I think they are wider, I have a Legend 5000 GP which is stamped N/M on the flap but is more like a medium fit. The mare it was used for used to wear an Ideal before that in a medium, not sure if that helps?
;)

My old Ideal International Event saddle was a M/W, my Albion is also stamped M/W and it fits perfectly - sorry if that's no help at all lol

Generally they can come up a smidge wider, though have a good depth of panel so the flocking will play a big part too. I would imagine you would wind up still as a m fitting, but the different models will vary in width too, as well as obviously the tree and panel shape.

ha ha, just to confuse everyone out there ,if you wanted a dressage saddle and a jump saddle by albion they would prob be different fitting 4 same horse. you would need to do a template or get a saddle fitter out. not just guess. good luck
