i prob sound a little silly but do bats bite horses, last night my friends horse came in with a scab, when friend picked it off(thought it was mud) puss came out then it bled, we cleaned it up and saw it had 2 small holes, quite deep, only thing we could think of was bats, are me mad

bats are fruit and veg eaters, not meat eaters so highly doubtfull it would be a bat.It could be a snake bite though.A snake will bite a horse if it feels threatened or is actually stood on

Might have bitten her whilst she was laying down?

Or could it be rain scald? You can often get pus underneath the scabs that form.

We don't have vampire bats in the UK and it's too cold for snakes now

The horse probably snagged itself on a fence or hedge - easily done.

As others have said, bats in the UK are mainly insect eating. There are vampire bats that would suck from horses but not here. Likewise fruit bats - not wild in the UK.
