wierd noise when ridden-enlarged teats .....

my mare makes a sort of slapping noise when being ridden.
i cant find anything (tack) causing it other than her teats!
they are quite large as shes had a foal.
they arent sore or warm and shes not bothered about me poking around there.

its a loud slapping noise as shes trotting!it sounds like two pieces of leather clapping together!
she also swishes her tail alot in trot.her back and saddle have been checked and are fine.

my other mare had a had a foal but doesnt have this problem.

is it normal for them to be swinging and slapping about?!

other than tying them together with an elastic band or something, i suppose there isnt a great deal i can do about it.

am just worried it could be causing her discomfort or it could make her sore..?
 
What is her breeding? TB?

It's more likely the noise is air being sucked into her vagina, than her teats.

Google caslick and you will find more info on poor valva conformation and valva injuries.
 
I have an RID mare who has had a few foals and she has slapping teats! It is mainly when she starts to get warm as her teats sweat and slap together!
Hers never caused her any pain that I am aware of (she never protested anyway) and I always just washed them off after.
I don't remember this happening last year funnily enough (I may just have got used to the noise), that would be 4 years after her last foal. Her teats aren't particularly saggy (poor lady) but they just seem to do it. None of my other mares have done it after foals either??
I did however notice this mare has a very wide gap between each teat compared to the other mares; whats the spacing like on your girl?
Just keep checking that there is no chaffing and wash them and dry them well after working her and other than that I wouldn't have thought there was a lot else that could be done. Maybe talc would keep them a little dryer if applied before riding??
I know I shouldn't laugh bt it used to make me giggle every time they started, poor little girl!

ive only noticed it in the last few weeks- maybe because its warmer and she sweats more..?
i will try the talc thing tonight and hope YO doesnt catch me doing it LOL
i didnt notice it last year although her work was less demanding then...
its really embarassing!lol.
she does have a wide gap between her teats.
 
hmm well im ashamed to say i think it was worsened by all the gakky yuckiness between her teats!
my other two are always clean there, so i tend not to be poking about.
the stuff that came out...ergh!
will look for a bra for her- do you think BD allow them?!
 
They may do in a novelty class

I used to see a stallion with a man bra when I was BSJAing.
She may have more yuk as she gets sweatier than the others and hence the noise.... bless our saggy teated ladies hey!! Mine is going back in foal this year so she'll be slapping away merrily when she comes back into work I'm sure!
