Today on our hack, a cyclist stoppedme and my friend to tell us about an injured wild pony. It had a deep wound 2/3 inches long above its knee. Hobbling a bit, but putting weight on it. Only identification was a green tag on its ear. They said they had phoned the police...not sure if that was right thing to do. The farmer who owns our yard has ponies on the moor, so we asked him and he said he would see if he could find it and if he recognised the tag etc.
Now I feel really bad and not sure if I should of done something different. Not really sure who I should of rung though????

you probably did all you could, those ponies are pretty tough, and farmers are pretty tough on them too. i know it sounds harsh but thats the way things go with the ponies. i would only have rung my uncle who farms, and asked him to ring someone who runs ponies on the moor, and then hope someone would go and look at it. i wouldnt suppose they could catch it that easily though
dont worry im sure itl be fine

As 28jen28 said, where you are, contacting SWEP would be your best option, otherwise the moorland trust whoever they are for the area.
