I'm having a few steerage problems with Hovis at the moment and one of the other liveries has suggested changing his bit?
He's 4.5 years old, Cylesdale cross and is in an eggbutt snaffle with D rings at the moment. He can get a little bit strong but nothing that I can't handle.
I'm struggling to get him into the corners of the school and when i took him jumping last week I had steerage problems between jumps. He's not being aggressive just cutting corners. He only does it in trot and canter and when I try to push him over with my leg he just goes a bit faster!
The other livery suggested a bit with cheek pieces so he gets more of a steerage "message" through the reins?
I'm having a flat lesson tonight and will discuss it with my instructor but I wondered what you thought? I don't want to wreck his mouth but his cornering is getting worse.
