Will he fit

I am currently looking at buying a 3.5 upgraded to 3.9 or a 4 ton horsebox. Bradley is 16.3, 670 kg large build. Most of these boxes say the horse area is around 7ft with approx 8ft headroom so am I right in thinking that as he is 6ft 6ins from chest to tail and does a good giraffe impression at times, that he will fit. The box owners/dealers obviously tell you he will but would welcome some advice from you guys.

Are you sure he is 6'6? Most 16hh plus are 6'9. To be honest it sounds a squeeze to me.

I'd assume that's actual length, not rug fit.

OP My large 16.3 fitted easily enough in a 3.5 tonner , she's only in a 6'9 rug though.

Ask the dealers if you can try him in it, and if it's rear facing and you haven't already had him out in one it would be worth hiring one before you buy. I know received wisdom is that they travel better rear facing but of the horses I've taken out in one, without exception, they have travelled better either forward facing or herringbone.

My 16.3 fitted in a 3.5 ton equitrek but have no idea how high the roof is.

My 16.3, 600kg Warmblood looked a bit squashed in the two 3.5tonners that I've travelled him in
