I have a never ending battle with getting and keeping weight off my native lad..as I am sure many of you do too with your natives.
This year he has dropped some weight and gone from 506 to 470 on the weight tape so very pleased. He is on about third to half an acre and has been since April with ad lin year old hay tp keep him happy. I am currently riding most days before work, so he gets about three quarters of an hour hack during weekdays and longer at weekends. He has no hard feed.
But soon I wont be able to ride during the week as I have no school and hack straight out on roads....how the hell will I keep the weight off him then, when I can only ride at weekends! Never mind get him to loose more!
The vet came to do his jabs today and said that whilst she has seen worse, he could do with loosing some more!!!!!

Is there an area you could lunge in (corner of the field)?

My ISH is equally as good a doer as any native and I never stop battling with her weight.

Oh Pottamus - if only there was an easy answer! Got similar probs with my Section D - made even worse by my recently acquired mega dodgy knee. If you find the secret, please post on the Forum! x

My TBx got a bit porky so I had her in for a day then out for a day for a few weeks - it worked a little too well

But she looks great now

Yes I could lunge him in his field I guess...not sure about doing it when dark though...would that be safe??? He is black too which does not help matters in the dark!

Depends what time you go to work but in the winter I can ride mine in the field before work. It means getting them ready & mucked out in the dark & some days its too frosty or wet, but on the whole I can ride before work a few days per week all winter
