Ok, so possibly a stupid question, but bare with me, please?

I am taking Gem to Patchetts on Sunday (Eeek!) But she doesn't have a show name or anything like that, should she have one or is it ok for me just to leave it as Gem, I'd rather not make myself more of a laughing stock than is already inevitable lol!
(Can you tell we don't go to parties often?!

Leave it as Gem, it's a fantastic name (but I'm bias!) and no one will laugh at you. Mine go competing as Megan and Chloe.

Good luck!!!

Your horse's name is 'Gem'....so that's what you need to enter under. There's no problem with that, it's a lovely name. At least the official will be able to pronounce your name, they have to struggle so much with some real weird ones

No of course not! That IS her competition name.

Of course if you do want to come up with something new, it has to be 'Joya's Gem'

Sam is Sam when we go away.

I tend to think given we get eliminated at half the jumping comps we do I would look much more stupid if they called out some flash fancy show name rather than simple Sam

My mare is Skye and thats what i call her when i compete although do always fancy making up something ridiculous at the last minute. Always think naked would be a funny show name as the tannoy would say heres....... riding naked.
God i am childish ( note to self spend more time away from the kids in adult company!!)

Phew! Was hoping I wouldn't have to come up with something fancy, as we are so not like that lol, people may think we are proper showjumping people if I give her a posh name, and we are far...FAR from anything like that lol!

Nah you won't get laughed at! We compete Blu as Blu, until we go affiliated. Her name for that is Don't Worry Van De Zonunherve or something! (I can't spell it!)

Gem is a lovely name, I always seem to end up with horses with names such as Rophine Moonbeam, Sophia's Ruby III, and Ashdene Magic Minstrel.... Gem is much better! Good luck hun!

My horse doesn't have a show name - can't see the point (but understand why people do have them...)

I like Gem as a show name. When Charlie competes he goes under his racing name, wait for it Dashing Steve. I dont like it, but I cant change it as that is his weatherby's registered name on his passport

otto was given the show name twist of fate when we got him, then when we affiliated him he became kings twist of fate as there was already a twist of fate registered and being ex kings troop he can use there prefix, at unaffiliated/local level he is just calle otto.
just entering her as Gem is fine, there is a girl at out local shows and her horse i think is called jennas gem. i did think of joyas gem as someone else already mentioned or you could enter her has 'just gem' if you want to alter her name slightly

Thanks everyone! I think I will just stick to Gem for now, you never know, I may get out competing more if my parents think I'm not rubbish and just wasting money on Sunday *fingers crossed*
