Will I damage my saddle if I keep it locked away standing up with the pommel on the ground and the cantel up (if that makes sense!!) rather than on a saddle rack?

Thanks

If you put it down carefully it should be ok, I would personally sit is on a saddlecloth so it doesn't scratch the front and possibly another to lean it up against???

possibly warp or twist the tree? thinking it might put stresses on the tree which its not designed for, if its stored like that for a while?
need a saddle makers advice...

I'm thinking of storing them in a locked old chest freezer so I can keep them safe at the yard but I'm worried I'll damage the tree if they stay like that too long!

get one of those saddle-carry plastic jobbies you put brushes in the bottom of, that way its locked up but stored in its proper way

yeh it would be OK for a short term measure, but I would try to get some sort of stand sorted as it is not great for you saddle. Even if you just get a crate and strap a big pillow to it!!!

What's wrong with putting it onto a sadle rack, they're only around £7 & your saddle is held off the floor & in shape? the other thing Spangle is recommending may be ok but it's 3 times the price

There's nothing wrong with a saddle rack but the really nice people at my yard refuse (or seem to be incompetect) of shutting the tack room and I don't want my £2k worth of tack left unlocked!!!!! Sorry mini rant there!
