Will it Work??

I can't see it doing any more than the groups as individuals, still the same amount of people etc doing the same work, but just all together if you see what I mean.

I would have thought it might help even if it is just through co ordination and information sharing.
I can't imagine, given the state of those horses and Farm that this was the first time JG was under suspicion but maybe not with the same authorities every time? There must be cases where a shared data base could red flag people they all need to keep an eye on. That way they can intervene before things get that bad.
Also the fact that the Police are involved from the start gives it more clout.

Have to agree with you, only good thing is by them banding together public awareness of what is neglect may be raised.

Until poor quality horses are not bred, horses in general are not bred that are not wanted, people have education so they are well looked after and not ruined in their behaviou through lack of knowledge then rescue cases will always be there.

It will depend on whether they use the best practice of the best or the lowest common denominator. If they can at least use the equine knowledge of the horse charities to train the more generic 'welfare' branches it may achieve some good. I do however have concerns that Defra is allying itself with the RSPCA which has stated political aims, not quite what I thought governement bodies were supposd to do.

Thats interesting, what political gains do you mean, YorksG?

I hope it helps horse welfare. I can unfortunately imagine loads of infighting and politics though. Hope I'm wrong.

YorksG said "aims" not "gains"..

The anti-hunting political aiims were the ones I was thinking of. If you try and join the RSPCA and list hunting as an interest you are not allowed to join, therefore they automatically exclude some people who would have a great deal of knowledge about horse welfare. There are other political aspects and camaigns which the RSPCA are involved in, which I would have thought would have excluded them from this involvement.
